Suppose Lucas gives in to popular demand (i.e. Fox Network holding a gun to his head, fan mail from teenieboppers, Rick McCallum) and makes the Star Wars TV show just as we want it...
BUT
... the theme has to follow the current trend of TV shows with pop songs in the opening credits (i.e. Enterprise, OC, One Tree Hill). So for no reason, out of the blue, they (by they, I mean Rick McCallum alone) approach you and you alone and say, "Give us the title of a pop / rock song you know and it's on the credits. It has to be absolutely something in the Billboard Top 20 from 1995-2005 because we want the general public to be familiar with it to a certain degree."
What would your choice be?

None of them, it should be a song entirely Star Wars universe esqe. Having some song from Earth will kill the "not from this world" feel that we get from Star Wars because it is an entirely different place.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Something by N'Sync? Just kidding.
"Princes of the Universe" would be cool, but I only say that for obvious reasons.
"The Prize"? Hmm... Vader hunts the remaining Jedi like Kurgan hunts the remaining Immortals, I like it.
And if I were SuperShadow I'd conclude this post by saying "Killer cool. This idea will be forwarded to Lucas."
Too bad it's not from the era in the OP. :p (even though Highlander used it until the series ended in '97)

NAH!!!
Anyway, re-emphasizing my OP, anything from within 10 years ago and in the Billboard Top 20 charts. I know it's difficult. But is there anything from within 10 years ago that could possibly not cause a mass SW fandom suicide?
For guidance, here are links to the Billboard Top 100 singles for 2004: +http://www.billboard.com/bb/biz/yearend ... sititl.jspOld Plympto wrote:Anyway, re-emphasizing my OP, anything from within 10 years ago and in the Billboard Top 20 charts. Frankly, the top 20 songs in both years make me want to commit suicide just out of despair for the American music industry, let alone using them for a Star Wars theme song.
