Contrary to many others here i really hope they change nothing with the battle for hoth,i still think it's far the best landbattle in the entire saga.(also i belive it's a great testamony to the good old stop-motion animation technique though thats another matter.)

I don't. After the stigma they generated in the Clone Wars, I can see why the Rebels don't use droids in battle. It wouldn't cast them in a good light if they mimicked the CIS.

Dude, what ARE You smoking? DO you have any idea what that would do?
it might surprise you, but i have no clue, what you mean?
Sorry to pop off like that, but wouldn't your idea not only have 'Home ONe' a highly symbolicc ship for the Rebellion destroyed, but also the loss of Admiral Ackbar as well as all senior staff on bored? Shoot, wasn't Mon Mofma on bored too?

Mon Mothma.
Such a change would also be quite troublesome for the EU.

Most of the redoing I'd do would be in effects and graphics. Not quite up to what was done in the PT, but let's face it, the effects in the OT sucked. Hard. They did good for the budget they had and the technology at the time, but they just do not compare to modern effects.

ANHL:
Update the Obi-Wan/Vader duel, add in some new dialogue and such to fit better with the RotS duel.
Add dialogue about the previous superlaser research and the prototype DS's during the meeting.
Redo the battle of Yavin slightly. More Ties present, and more older Rebel craft (I'd add Z-95s as well as a few more Y-Wings, the X-Wings were new craft.)
Han shoots first, obviously.
Show some shots of Luke and Biggs, perhaps out looking for R2. Biggs could leave to get help after the Tusken Raiders attack, and that's when Obi-Wan shows up. A later scene on Yavin IV as the two hook up and Bigg's says something to the effect of "Luke! I thought you were dead. I left to get help and when I came back...". More grief from Luke at his death.

ESB:
Redo the Battle of Hoth to show more diverse Imperial vehicles and more ground-battle sequences.
Yoda and Luke lightsaber training, just the basics.

RotJ:
As someone said above, Han leads the fighters in RotJ, possibly with Lando as co-pilot while Chewie, Leia and Luke lead the expedition to the Endor moon.
Change the whole Endor sequence to be about them making contact with a renegade group of Wookie slaves and leading an assault on the Imperial generator/camp.
Camo'd troops, and an intense ground battle between the Rebel commando team augmented with Wookies vs an Imperial garrison.
Diversify both the Rebel and Imperial fleets for the space battle. Have some Victory-class and Interdictor 318s for the Imperials, and add in some Corellian gunships, possibly one or two Dreadnaught-class cruisers that the Rebels stole.
Rework the battle so instead of around a partially completed Death Star, it's around a shipyard that's building an Eclipse-class SSD, with the Luke and Vader sequence transplanted to the Emperor's private viewing platform aboard said SSD. I wouldn't change much in the whole sequence itself. Maybe show Luke being more aggressive, more Dark Side-y, so the question of whether he'll turn or not is more up in the air.
More attention on longer shots of capship vs capship, 'cause we all like seeing massive mile-long warships beat the living hell out of each other.
More light cap-ship craft for both sides, such as Lancer-class frigates and Carrack-class light cruisers, possibly leading direct assaults with large numbers of fighters and bombers against the shipyard while the bigger capships duke it out with each other.

Oh, and show Jar-Jar being among those captured aboard the Tantive-IV, and a short snippet of a couple guards being ordered to take them off for execution. Bail Organa and his wife, perhaps on Alderaan before it's destruction.

Actually, I'd have to disagree with you there. I would not be adverse to redone scenes, but except for a few instances (the snow under the feet of the collapsing AT-AT, etc.) I dont think that most of the OT effects were really bad at all. ILM did a simply breath taking job with the effects, and I think they hold up to this day. Still, as I said, I would like to see newer effects, but not at the cost of the actual actor filmed scenes.

I want to see footprints added in the snow behind the tauntauns. :D During the opening scene Luke's ride is either really light, or the snow is VERY firm.

I'd also like to see the ANH hope duel redone. Not like the duels in the prequels, but made longer at least. I've always been somewhat dissapointed by that fight. Seemed to short, and the choreography wasn't too good.

given there age Would the Rebels have had some ARC fighters as well?

Hoth battle ....easy show a pir of juggernaughts sklide up to an entrance , protected by a trench, doors fold down as snowtroopers drop out firing as they go. SShoe bikerscouts modified to operate in the snow as well, the AT ATS can carry 5 each so have them launch inside the shield.. Maybe have some PMLs for the Rebel troops.

I concede the point on the battle droids .
