The combination of the inimitable ANH arcade game, the SNES Wars lineup with the recent Rogue Squadron and KOTOR series tips the scales in favour of SW, but Trek has the excellent eighties adventure games, Bridge Commander/SFC, and the Elite Force series...

Wars takes it, based on the higher number of high-profile hits.

In spite of the excellent Elite Force, SW has produced consistently better games. KotOR, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, and the astoundingly good X-Wing series are all top-notch games. It's pretty easy to argue that KotOR, JK, and TIE Fighter are some of the best games in their genre ever made.

In appropriate forum.

As to which one...Wars. X-Wing flight sims, Jedi Knight/Dark Forces, and the KOTOR series are memorable games and damn fun series, while at best Trek has Elite Forces.

Starfleet Command 3 was great as was Elite Force (one of my all time favorite FPS games), but overall SW wins by quantity of good games.

I rate them both equaly. Both have had some shitty games. Some games that were promised to be something they weren't. Both have also had good games that everyone knew would be good. And then you have the surprise games that no-one expected much out of but were incredibly well done.

Though I must say that SW's batting record of late has improved. Trek hasn't released much recently, EF2 being the only real recent game of note.

It's a hard call. But ultimately, it drops to this:

NetTrek, vs. KOTOR/TIE Fighter: The Stele Chronicles.

And that says it all. The best of Trek is seriously badass(And completely unknown), but so is the best of Wars, and you get twice the helping there. So I'm gonna have to give it to SW.

Star Trek has had some shining jewels (25th Anniversary/Judgment Rites, anyone?), but a lot of the titles pumped out have either been garbage, or had great potential that wasn't realized.

I have a copy of "Visual Star Trek" on my system. You fly around a whole bunch of quadrants with the mouse. You click on Klingons, Romulans, or Tholians to shoot torpedoes at them or use up your energy to fire phasers. The Klingons have normal ships, commanders, suppercommanders, and supercommander factories, and you have 25 days to blow them all up. Its pretty fun.

But Star Wars has TIE Fighter. Star Wars wins.

My favorite game to date is a $10 copy of Star Trek Armada I bought several months ago. Dowloaded all of the ST vs. SW mods for it and have been playing it that way for a long time. By the way, where the heck can I get a bonified, full version of Star Trek Armada II for under $25?

I got the Activision "Star Trek Action Pack" (which included ST Armada 1 & 2, and Elite Force plus Expansion) for AUD$40 a couple of years back, but I have no idea whether it is available internationally, or just Australia.

On topic, while Star Wars had some real bombs (eg. Force Commander, which IIRC, the early screenshots of which looked like SW Total Annihilation, rather than the joke it became... *sigh*), but it has also delivered quite consistently positive results like the X-Wing series, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, and Rogue Squadron series.

... Damn it, now I have to fight the urge to reinstall Jedi Academy and go beserk with a pair of Lightsabres, Force Grip, and Force Lightning (UNLIMITED POWER!!!), and it's already 1AM...

EDIT: Wow, I know Google-Fu!

Star Wars overall. EF2 was surprisingly good (for me), but Star Wars holds several of my all-time favorite titles.

Tie Fighter, KOTOR, Dark Forces, SotE, Rogue Squadron, Ep.1 Racing all are on my list. I actually didn't care as much for X-Wing as I did for Tie Fighter, but I'm a loyal servant of His Imperial Majesty. 8)

Star Trek has produced some good titles, but Star Wars has a much more consistent track record, and the good titles it has produced generally outshine the good Trek titles.

Star trek has some games that absoulutly suck like the starship creator series, where you build your own trek ship which was a good idea but then you dont actully controll the ships, instead there put on pre built misssions.
But they also have some nice games like elite force but then SW has kotor, battlefront, and galaxies so my vote goes to them

SW has a staggeringly greater quantity of games, but I'd say the average quality is far, far lower. ST Had.. em.. all those TOS games, most of which were good or seemed good. (Judgement Rites, 25th anniv, etc), some crappy pseudo-games (Starship creator comes to mind) and some interactive movies (Borg, Klingon) and some new FPS (Elite Force 1,2), RTS(Armadas), Pseudo-TBS(SFC)...

...compared to.. em.
Super NES SW.. alright. I remember that vaguely. :) TIE Fighter. Whee, go Flight sim. Several FPS, which are on par with say EF1. An RTS, far below Armada in quality.. interactive fiction, which I never played (Reb Assault?), Crap related to Ep1, that crappy fighting game version... that crappy 4x game... now KOTOR, but then again, KOTOR2 kinda knocks it down a little... :/

Slight edge to SW, mainly because they've produced more, even if their means are about the same, with more consistancy to ST.

Elite force was good but the JK and dark forces games were better, for each crappy SW game (Force commander) there is a worse ST game.
Star wars takes it if only because of KOTOR and jedi academy.

SW wins. But then SW has the unfair advantage of a development/publishing company all to itself.
