Whatever happened to... Aurra Sing?

Post by Kurgan »

Yep, I remember how back when TPM was made she was just another "background character" watching the Pod Race, but that rumors flew (or Lucas flat out said, I don't remember) that she was going to have an "expanded role" in Episode II. She was supposed to be this "awesome bounty hunter" and the "next Boba Fett" (though Lucas also said that about Plo Koon, and we all thought he was going for that with Maul), she supposedly collected lightsabers of "Jedi she had killed" as trophies. That and it was a big deal because she was a female (whoa, a buttkicking female in Star Wars that isn't a main character, whoa! and a buttkicking female villian, whoa!).

So her character then disappears from the movie canon (which is fine by me, do we need more Fett type characters?), and I remember she appeared in some graphic novel (the title and plot escapes me) wherein they basically make her a Jedi (not officially, but she was trained by some Jedi.. one that either died or left the Order, I don't remember), explaining her powers. The idea of the "lightsaber trophy collector non-Jedi" then resurfaces as Grevious (I'm glad they decided not to make him also a bounty hunter).

So anybody know what happened with this (either behind the scenes or in the further EU adventures)?

I do. Aurra Sing appears in the comic series Outlander, which also had Ki Adi Mundi in it. She had a case of lightsabers. She was great. Double crossed a hutt, killed some Womp Rats with her lightsaber, then takes on multiple Jedi Knights.

She also got her own one-off comic - Bounty Hunters - Aurra Sing, which had her going after a Jedi turned pirate. She went to Hoth, Bespin, Endor and Tatooine. Great fun. She's a good character in my opinion. She dangerous, skilled, humorous. One of the better EU characters out.

Well, after the Jedi Purge the Jedi-hunting business sort of petered out, and with Boba Fett hogging all the good contracts there wasn't much to do. She sort of wandered around the galaxy, got hooked on spice and ended up doing porn.

I swear to god you just gave spoilers for a future UPF storyline....

Somewhere, I believe it might even be the SW databank, mentions her participation in Jabba's demolition contests (which take place in a game sort of like a SW verison of twistied metal, in the time around the Battle of Yavin)

EDIT:

and this place has officially twisted me, I swear Kurgan was typing "buttfucking" instead of "buttkicking" for a bit there.

Further adventures? You mean like how she squared off with Aayla Secura, who defeated Aurra and turned her into the authorities?

You'd think this would be the case, wouldn't you? EU writers have other plans of course...

Iirc, Aurra Sing gets captured by Aayla Secura and placed into a mental institution. If I remember correctly, I read it on a fansite. But I can't find it right now. Goddammit.

The Hunt for Aurra Sing is the last I heard of her. Dunno what happens to her after.

Gets into a fight with Aayla Secura and gets beaten and locked up, it's strongly hinted that the warden of the prison was going to release her to get Jedi bounties.

I wonder who would win in the following matchups:

Jango vs. Boba Fett (both in their prime)

Darth Maul vs. General Grevious

Boba has more experience and knows every trick in Jango's book.

Grievous would bitchslap Maul so hard it's not even funny.
(Maul was a match for a master and "knight", Grievous was a match for multiple masters)

Shouldnt this be a new topic?

Both claims are questionable.

It's possible that Boba is better than Jango, but I doubt that Jango taught Boba every trick.. and I question the claim that Boba has more experience.

And Maul was more than a match for Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. If Maul didn't fall for the "fear, intimidation and surprise" thing, I think he would've dealt with Grievous as handily as Obi-Wan did.
As an aside, Jedi Master status does not necessarily denote combat prowess.

Boba was responsible for hunting down at least a dozen jedi and many more Wookies (Yes, I know Jango killed 7).

Grievous was a near match for Windu in a straight up fight, Obi-Wan only beat him because his form was uniquely suited to counter the general's.
It is canon that Grievous took on multiple jedi of skill and beat them, Maul's only hope would be to do a force crush on Grievous if he has the chance, he may be fast and skilled but Grievous is faster and stronger and is designed to overwhelm a offensive opponent.
