Games have stopped working

Post by Thag »

Has anyone else had problems recently running games on XP that used to run fine before? Over the last month, I've had Homeworld begin crashing regularly, and my system will no longer even recognize my Starcraft disk. Now, Starcraft works fine on the other system in the house, which hasn't had all the Windows updates added. So, have any of the recent service packs had something in them that screws with the games, or is my system fucked up?
"And the sign said, 'Anybody caught tresspassing, will be shot on sight.' So I jumped over the fence and yelled at the house, 'Hey! What -'" BAM*BAM*BAM*BAM*BAM

Probably fucked up, the windows sp2 mainly works on your net connections and a fire-wall, I have a comp with every patch out there and SC, Homeworld work fine.

I'm having kinda the same problem. Fresh install of Windows SP2 after a virus killed my old install. Now Neverwinter Nights refuses to work, and I can't reinstall it, because some tiny file I cannot find is still there. WoW refuses to start up (starting the .exe, not logging in), citing something about a linux connection and then quits. :?
Rise of Nations and the expansion pack, Thrones and Patriots, constantly crashs, even though I've tried every single fix Microsoft recommends and reinstalled them 4 times. (I had the same problem with my old XP install).
