Ideas for Episode III fan-edit

Post by Darth Lucifer »

After seeing MagnoliaFan's Phantom edit for Episodes I and II, I had to ask myself one thing; should another version be made for Episode III?

I, for one, certainly hope so. I hate all of the Trade Fed and Droid dialogue and it needs to be converted to an alien tongue like in the first two edits.

What other kinds of (fan) edits would be good for Episode III?

The entire concept of "Fan Edits" pisses me off on principle, but there is one tiny scene that I would like completely removed. On the Invisible Hand, after Obi-wan destroys the two SBDs during the Dooku fight, I would wish for Palpatine's little "yip" to be purged.

A few changes during the first 15 or so minutes of the movie, basically get rid of some of the REALLY corny parts (Palpatine's yip for example). Other than that, add some emotional di/monologue during the Obi-Wan Anakin fight while they are stopped for a moment to avoid the lava. That was the PERFECT point to have Obi-Wan talking to Anakin and for Anakin to reject him completely once again. If done right it would have put that fight above the RotJ fight for the most emotional fight.

Agreed. That tiny, miniscule scene was so horribly edited into the movie that it actually made me rub my brow in shame and embarrasment.

Yes, lets strip the last vesitges of Plot away and make the movie one continous action sequence. That would work.

EDIT:  added to better indicate sarcasm. Also a couple of typos removed.

I think it helps put along the plot of "This relationship is doomed." In real life, how many of those types of relationships where one is practically dependent on the other and has all the silly little "I love you. No I love you more." crap end up? Pretty badly.

Can I ask why? I personally like the idea of Fan Edits. Nothing is ever the way I like it, so why not make it to your satisfaction?? If you have the time why not? No its not the original, and it never will be. Why can't people go out and decide to make something "better" to themselves?

Have you never played a modded video game, or did something to customise your car? Or thought your pants would make better shorts? I see this as all the same concept as a fan edit.

Its not so much the changing to fit what you think is better, its the fact that often entails the thinking that somehow you are better than the original creator. I know that this is not always the case, but I have read some of the things people have said about previous SW "Edits" and it seems like they were done more out of contempt than a desire to make it better, almost as if they were saying "Suck it Lucas!" Perhpas I'm reading to much into it, but I have a problem with the precieved motives behind the changes, if not the changes themselves. Certainly, there are flaws in Lucas' movies, and its nice to see them cleaned up a bit, but if I want to see people wanking to Lucas hate, I can look at Rolling Stone.

Actually, I've never done any of those things (maybe the shorts), but they are decent analogies. Again, its the intent, not the product.

Well, having rewritten Ep I and II myself (buried now in the fanfiction forum), and being in the process of trying to rewrite III, I can't say that I have a problem with them. :D If done with creativity and a love for the originals that is. Unlike some I actually like all of the prequels, but I can still see places that needed another set of eyes.

Can somebody tell me where i can find the edits? they sound interesting. Also, I think that:
1. Mace died to quickly and withoult any drama. We dies to easily.
2. Where's boba? Boba Fett should have appeared.
3. More wookie action, less wookie technology. I with the wookies ran in there with gungan level technology, not republic level technology.
And,
4. NO KID KILLINGS! that scene didn't have to be there!

What ever gave you the impression that Wookiees were low tech? Chewbacca is a mechanic and a copilot, hardly primative.

I'm wonder what he is going to be doing for "Fall of the Republic". Or if he is going to follow through with his plans to do an edit of ANH to keep the revalation in ESB a suprise.

Lower the battle droid/SBD voices a few octaves so they sound like the ones in TPM instead of Alvin & the Chipmunks.

Personally I think it's the perfect counter to the people who go "Oh yeah? Well you criticize Lucas but I'd like to see you do better!"

Some people make fan films, but even on a budget of thousands of dollars there's no way anyone with less money than Lucas can make a movie to rival the films. The claim is often made that Lucas needs to get a better editor, and that fulfills the deal. If people don't like the edits, they don't have to view them either. Everybody wins!

Noble, I see your point. I guess I do stuff like that for myself though, I don't claim it is better than what I was produced. (LOL I have an awesome Victory Class Destroyer from B-5, I made to go into Star Fleet Command II.) Granted it is not better game, and it throws the balance off, but gosh dang it, I wanted to command one. I am not claiming it is.

I think I am just never satisfied :?
