Create the ultimate Anti-Jedi Soldier

Post by Battlehymn Republic »

Challenge: design a specific unit, team, or machine meant for detecting, hunting, and eliminating Jedi, Dark Jedi, and Sith. Also, feel free to list any anti-Jedi things that already exist in the EU and the series, besides General Grievous.

Magnadroids  .
Hk 47 combat droids with improved (built in) melee capabilities and phrik plating would be able to flush out any jedi or burn the planet that the Dark jedi is hiding on.

Cheap anti-jedi droids:

Install a rapid fire tri-blaster, similar to the slow firing one some Super Battle Droids have. Jedi can't block three shots in the same plane at once, and see to it that you have enough of them that the Jedi is forced to run away instead of blocking bullets. Eventually he'll get shot like Geonosis in miniature.

Or better yet, toned down Magnadroids with those blasters instead of or with their staffs. That'd cost more, however.

Dont forget that they need to hunt down the jedi and Sith, otherwise a hundred battle droids, 40 SBD and a dozen droidekas would give even Mace Windu a heart-ache.
Non clone wars version that is

How about Battledroids with a thermal detonator (or a smaller device) inside that will detonate if a Jedi (guy with a lightsaber) gets within the blast radius.

The battle at the Genosis arena would have gone down much differently.

Dammit, by ultimate I didn't mean cheap kills.

Of course, almost any cool-looking hunter-killer device is bound to have critical weak points. Star Wars is famous for it.

Fine, besides droids and sythethics, what other possible soldiers are there?

Kailee droid cyborgs or restructured force using machine hybrids (Vader).

What do you mean by ultimate? most cost effective/powerful/versatile...?

All of the above. Coolness is also a factor. Use your best judgment.

However, using walking gun turrets and suicide droids just seem as little too easy.

Mandalorians did OK, and only suffered from bad leadership from the top and lack of numbers. The Nohgri might also prove formidable, if they decided to go Jedi or Sith hunting. .

You could always equip a combat droid with a Ysalamari. That would knock a Jedi down in power level quite a bit. After you have one under the bubble of infulence, a few blaster hits ought to finish it.

It wouldnt help against blaster deflection and when close enough to help the Jedi will still have a chance to slice the droid in half before it shoots him from near point blank range.
(Didnt the Yslamari's only have a range of 1-3 meters unless they were in massive quantities?)

A full grown Ysalamari has an effect range of 10 meters.
The lightsaber problem could be easily fixed by placing the lizard in an armored compartment in the droid itself and have it sport some type of lightsaber resistant armor, stuff that will allow it to survive at most one or two strikes. Afte ther initial attack, without enhanced speed and precog, the Jedi wont be able to defend against point defense blasters.

As for a Jedi taking it out with a ranged weapon, it could always sport a shield generator of a Droideka's type (this would actually deminish the need for phrink or cortosis armor, and would be cheaper.)

10 meter for a single creature.

My mistake  , wouldnt the droid be un cost effective if it needs to fight with a lizard strapped into it?

The idea was coolness, not cost effective. As to cost effectiveness, the Droid undoubtedly costs more than a little lizard anyhow.

So a spindly droid with a lizard strapped to it's ass counts as cool  still it would be very effective il'l give you that.

Sorry to make coolness such a big deal, but I think perhaps we've exhausted all options in creating a super-cost-effective easy killer machine. If you can create some sort of Jedi-specific assassin droid, feel free to suggest it, but I would like to see if there are any possible effective organic anti-Jedi.

General Grevious with cortosis plated armor and a Ysalamiri in a protective shell in his body. Oh and weld his chest plates together just in case. ;)

If that fails, Phase 3 DarkTroopers with nobody inside (no organic inside).

Sure, a non-Force sensitive commando was able to take one out, but a squad of them?

I dont really know. Post Vong invasion, certainly, but before it...
Thrawn was able to come up with at least a hundred or so to outfit his ISD and cloning facility, but he did have the resources of the entire Imperial remnant behind him. I guess they might be quite expensive, but a squad of four shielded battle droids with a Ysalamari set into each would likely be enough for any single or small group for Jedi (barring uber Mace/Luke types, or groups who have enought time to set up traps for them, etc.)

If RotS is any indication, regular old Clonetroopers did a pretty damn good job of being anti-Jedi soldiers.

Any of the species that are immune to mind tricks (there was a giant lizard species) with cortosis weapons flamethrowers and flack projectiles (a cross between a flak shooter [JK games] and a small machine gun)

What about the force avalanche problem? I can imagine even a fairly low level Jedi weakneing the supports on a hanging crate or rock pile, waiting for a big, slow trandoshan commando to come lumbering along, and then use the force to spring the trap. Of course, this is a problem for my idea too (hence the ambush caveat.)

I thought that it was the element of surprise and overwhelming numbers that did the trick.

A squad YVH Droids with cortosis shells and a few Yslamari's inside the main torso with attatched nutrient frames should do the trick.

The Ysalamari's, and i do mean a plural, will more than render a Jedi vunerable and the YVH's are very well armed, auto blasters and warhead launches as standard IIRC so a squad of say 12 of them should easily kill a Jedi dumb enough not to run.

Darth Revan had pretty good idea, use low level Force user equipt with stealth generators and lightsaber resistant weapons.
