The problem with this is that unless they know explicitly how to detect Force sensitivity and actively supress it, we should see some kind of latent ability in a small segment of the population. The Q perform feats that are far beyond any Force users I've ever read about or seen, as do most of the other "superbeings". Either they have incredible technolgy, i.e. the T'Kon, or their powers supersede those of the Jedi or Sith, i.e. Q. Remember, Anakin's abilites manifested themselves in limited ways before he was even aware of them, and there are canon accounts of toddlers who demonstrated Force powers.

How about Vulcan mind melds, betazoid telepathy? I recall one race seemed to always know where in the galaxy there where at all times. also rember Anakin was just considered VERY skilled. Chances are these force senstivies would just be considered that skilled and lucky ect.

The problem with each of those examples is that they are racial traits, rather than random. The fact that each race only exhibits a particular ability further makes me think that these phenomena aren't manifestations of the Force, but simply evolved abilities. Vulcans can perform a mind meld, but they aren't telepathic, Betazoids are telepathic, but can't find any other Betazoid across stellar distances, etc.

Ok the maquis suddenly have battle droids (and we must assume they are armed....) some other troops and a fleet that can vaporize anything in the trek universe and a couple of guys that to a limited extent can see the future etc...

Assuming will and sufficient battle droids thay could conquer the entire star trek universe barring any intervention. Assuming a finite supply they conquer a large part of the alpha quad destroy some borg and over the next 1000 years bring the tech level up to star wars levels. This naturally assumes that the republic can be convinced or just conned into believing the star trek powers to be a threat or inimicable to their way of life. Also it assumes the raw materials for star wars tech are available in the trek universe.

In this senario the only possible conclusion I see is that the Maquis clear out the DMZ and take their worlds back, Bajor possibly join them just to take a pop at the Cardies, they have to be careful not to be seen by the Republic as instigators of war but they do want one, Cardassia Prime sufferes an unfortunate accident. The Federation will step in and attempt to reign in their wayward brothers and promptly get told to fuck off by whoever is in charge of the Maquis at this time, (Didn't Ensign Ro become their leader?) and a cold war starts up between the Federation and Maquis, with the Federations finest bending over backwards to catch up with the Maquis new technology lest there be an imbalance of power.

I agree, except for one point: the "unfortunate accident" on Cardassia Prime. The Jedi would certainly work to prevent this from happening, unless some fall to the Dark Side-- possibly because a Jedi(s) fell in love with a Maquis, who was then killed or seriously injured by a Cardassian-- and aided the Maquis by ordering a BDZ.

Another possibility is the Jedi go to Cardassia Prime-- any Cardassians who can stop them ends up looking the other way, thanks to the Force-- and tell the Cardassian head of government to leave the Maquis alone. A quick demonstration of the Force-- making the Cardassian fleet play "bumper cars" in a very expensive manner-- would convince even the Obsidian Order to agree.

Anyways, the formation of a Maquis Republic may lead the Federation to junk the whole "Communism is good, capitalism is bad" garbage in order to catch up, like China did to catch up with the US, or destroy itself as it reaches beyond the limits of its economy, like the former USSR. Both sides would scramble to find allies-- the Federation might kiss up to the Cardassians, while the Klingons might say, "Fuck the Federation, the Maquis have bigger guns, lets join them so we'd have some bigger guns."

I will note that NR SDs are superior warships to Imperators. They're just not as much 'jack of all trades' opressor ships.

I am not familiar with the New Republic Star Destroyers. Could you clarify how they are superior to ISD's? Speed, Firepower, Armor?

The Defender SD has greater firepower, speed, and shielding than an ISD-II in a 1040m package, but carries fewer troopes, half the starfighters, and has only 6 months endurance and reduced range. Also it might be a little more expensive than an ISD. The Republic SD has greater firepower than an ISD-I, better speed, 20% of the crew, and take less time to build and are cheaper, in a 1250m package. Its drawbacks are 2 instead of the ISD's 6 years of endurance, less firepower than an ISD-II, 1/3 the troops, and similar armour and shielding, and the same starfighter capacityas an ISD.
Also, the author of the first book to feature the Rejuvenator said, he thought of an Imperator when he imagined the look, so it's essentially a Dominator with the grav well projectors hidden on the inside.
