As would I. It ought to be great fun, though, if you happen to play with people you trust. When I played on the Realms, I made sure to lock the game with a password. Even when I played by myself (I did that to swap items and mule, which is necessary when you play hardcore).

I think the first or second time I played without a password with my friend, this wanker rode in and went hostile with me. My friend and I stayed in town hurling insults at him.
I don't play often enough anymore to keep a realm character active, and I don't dare step into an Open game with my single-player characters without a recent backup of the save files. There's been a hacker in every game, and half the time they stand outside town killing anyone who steps outside.
For me, I stopped playing realms when Lag wiped out my level 43 Amazon. Well, lag + extra fast + extra strong + other bullshit ghostly unique monster.

That said, it was my own fault. I've since discovered that I should NOT enter Nightmare difficulty, especially in the latter stages of Act 1, at level 43. My friend let me skip to the monastery bypassing the whole act, which was stupid (he was impatient though, stupid bugger). I should have insisted of starting from the start, and working my way up. Bah, now I'm getting morose at losing poor Leshara. She could fry those buggers like the best of them with her lightning enchanted javelins. :(

I had a lvl-68 Paladin on the realms (maxed out Vengance & Conviction). I sure as hell wouldn't play Hardcore online, considering things like lag adding into the equasion.

I just recently made my long theorised Poison necro and got him into the sixties, man that thing was powerful.

I'm pretty much done with Diablo 2(the poison necro was one of the last things calling me to the game) but if disccusion of remaking the 1.10 party(character builds specificly designed to work as with a party, not just a solo build that can also buff parties) resurface I'd toss my efforts in.

I have a Paladin who's maxing out Holy Bolt, Prayer, and Sacrifice. Hopefully, he can survive Hell. :|

Space

Web based strategy game. A bit of Master of Orion light. I got tired of it myself now, but I played it daily for more than 3 years

Battlecity IMO rocks. Although the graphics are poor it's still pretty fun.

Frustration from what? Getting cussed out by 99 potential parties when I choose my own, being hounded day in and day out to join one band or another, becoming a target of PKers who need to take out the party buffers first, and being expected to tank my way through each and every situation while the spellcasters and archers sit back and let fly from safety? I can deal with that, mind as I'm cautions and thrifty on what I use.

'sides, for kicks and giggles, I pimped out a legion of test characters with an editor last night and tested out their capabilities. The barbarian's not too bad, but some of his skills are rather Mana-hungry (Whirlwind devours the stuff) and the Amazon's a bit too offensive/distanced for my taste, the Sorceress has a good punch, but limited ammo, while the Druid and Necromancer rely on being able to summon minions. The only other class that fit me was the Assassin, and that's really because of her Martial Arts - for mainstream combat, though, I'll take buffing and shining (not to mention it might add some incentives for invites once I start).

Now, a Barbarian as a treasure hunter, that's a different story...

Accaull the Barbarian really shines as a tank. Their called Concentrators and I rarely see them cause they can't solo very well, but they can take damage like nobody else. The concentrator I made had most monsters facing a AC high enough to put there cance to hit in beneath the twenties ontop of 75% chance to block.

Also the Druids do pretty well as Meleemancers and spellcasters(although less so to most other spellcasting builds) and the Poison Necro is quite deadly, although not as quick as others.

Whirlwind is great is you have a manasteal blade of one sort or another. I think there's a runeword which does that...

Yeah - VexHelElEldZodEth is the one, plus it gives a ton of other modifiers.

::qivers on the verge of losing self-control::

Oh, god, have I been missing OUT! It was SO great, I started up an account earlier this morning (though I had to use something besides this alies and my normal RPing one) and I started up a couple of games so I could level up, but then I joined this one Act I game that had a bunch of other players in it, and BAM! we were just rolling over everything in sight (thanks to them, really, though I did some slaying as well, and we just blew through all of the quests, swept out the den of evil and the burial grounds, killed the Countess and rescued Cain, then went and got the Horadric Malus from the Butcher and finally killed Andarial! And then we went to Act II and swept out the sewers, and there was SO much stuff being dropped, there were piles of gold everywhere and just MOUNDS of stuff, and then when we finally got to Radament, we gave him a true what for, and there was ALL this treasure that started flying out of him, a ton of skill books and a bunch of Horadric scrolls, plus MORE gold and a bunch of enchanted items! But then the group headed out and I couldn't follow them 'cause I had NO idea where they were going, so I signed off and joined up with another group who was doing a run of the Cow dominion, and while I didn't get any experience from it I've got to say FUCK! that place can turn into a friggin' body pile in no time flat! There were all these bodies laying every which way, and even a bunch more cows that were roaming around, and a couple of the players got killed by some of the Hell Boving, and I nearly got killed, took a blow from a roving cow, but managed to get away without too much damage (took off a good half of my life, don't you know!) and there was treasure EVERYWHERE, the entire screen was filled with the stuff, and I didn't even lag one BIT from it (I guess dial-up's not so bad) and I had a GREAT time going through the dead and picking out all this cool stuff! I got a Nagul or whatever it's spelled Ring, plus a nice longsword in decent condition - no enchantments, though - and in one of the body piles, I managed to find a FLAWLESS DIAMOND!!! Oh, I was laughing with glee from that, they'd left all that stuff out there that they could have traded or used themselves, but NOOOOoooo, they decided to go the speedy way and only do the run for experience, but I got the last laugh! And then we did a nice run through Tristram, which wasn't too bad, and I was able to pull my weight again this time around - albeit not as much as the others did - and I got off with some nice gold and a few rings I've got to ID later! And then I sat in the chat and listened to some of the stuff that was going on, and then I signed off and I came here!

Oh, come college time, my grades are going to be FUCKED!!!

::Passes out from exhaustion and the fact that it's 4:25 in the friggin' morning::

(And yes, I understand that the above is more or less a violation of every non-spelling-oriented rule of writing, and it was designed with such an objective in mind. Please do not roast me as you see fit.)

Hehe. For a variety of reasons, I decided to reinstall Diablo 2/LoD yesterday. It's my first time playing this patch version, and it seems like there's quite a lot more loot in Act I now. And Sharpshooter, not to burst your bubble, but none of that is really all that impressive. :P I plowed through the same just fine in single player with my Paladin (holy bolt > undead) and my stash was overflowing until I got my Cube.

I know - I just had to let the giddiness run its course. :D Being now in a state of balance, I still must say that it was quite a fun morning, and I'll be logging on as soon as I get through with everything else I have to do (likely sevenish or so).

Shoot, that reminds me - I've got to join up with a Cube game for the extra eight slots...

As much as I can respect the need to play a character whos good in a party, I feel a character should be able to hold his or her own in a fight. Perhaps that is a lofty goal, but it is one Im trying to achieve. :)
