Yes it is. As for what happened, chances are the Russians threw the body out of its seat and onto another to get at hostages in the same row.

That does appear to be the case. I'd bet he got shot through the throat and upper chest, but the head came off when they moved the body and threw it over the seat. That would explain why there's not a huge pool of blood around what looks like the head on the ground. 5.45 in the right place should totally sever the spinal cord.

I have read it, he's a good author. Lots of blood and gore. Not my favorite fanfic author but still worth reading for a good short war story.
