Cool Non-lightsaber Melee Weapons

Post by Battlehymn Republic »

Pseudo-lightsabers are allowed, provided they are unique in some way. Like the long-rumored purple broadsaber found in this controversial leaked trailer analysis.

Royal Guard forcepikes

The blaster pike, which according to Wikipedia are the weapons of Senate Guards and are basically a purple lightsaber on a staff.

Yoda's walking stick...not as a practical weapon, but last time I saw TESB, I lost it when he and R2-D2 were fighting over the lamp, where Yoda scrambles for his cane and beats the fiesty little droid with it.

Now that I think about it, his walking stick is much thinner than the one he carries in the prequel trilogy. Kinda makes me sad in a way because his frailty is more apparent in the OT.

Sounds like something I once read off a D6 fan material site, along with the Light-Axe, the Light-Sai, Scythe, and a whole bunch more..

Give me a good ol' Vibroblade or Vibrostaff any day of the wee - non-mastery isn't a guarentee of losing a limb, and those little knives can be used a lot more effectively than any fancy saber.
This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.

Aboard the Tantive in RotS is the only time I can think of.

I seriously doubt that Yoda would recognize one of millions of blue R2 units, especially if he only met him right around the time when his entire order was wiped out and he was forced into hiding; other things would be on his mind. Artoo on the other hand would most likely have recoginized Yoda.

Merr-Sonn Vibrobayonet
Damage: 2d4+2 (if attached to rifle) or 2d4 (unattached)
(For comparison an E-11 rifle does 3d8 damage)

Obviously its from a Star Wars RPG. I like it because it turns my Merr-Sonn Model G8 into a lean, mean, stabbing machine. So now not only can I outrange Stormtroopers, I can also stab them if they get too close.

LaserHone Duelist Vibrorapier
Damage: 2d6+2
Special: This weapon does not grant the +2 bonus
on Listen checks common to other vibro weapons.

Completely silent when activated, unlike other vibro-weapons. If you want to take out somebody without any noise, just slam this baby into the base of their skull. Other vibroweapons, lightsabers, and blasters create noise, which can attract unwanted attention.

Ryyk Blade
Damge: 3d4
It's a machete, which makes it inherently cool. What's more, the Ryyk Blade is a Wookie machete. The only thing cooler than a Wookie with a large machete is a Wookie with two large machetes.

That webpage is a gag review, it's all just joke interpretations; hardly controversial unless you beleive the senate chamber is also in fact a giant game of zero-G bumper cars. :P

Anydangway, nothing beats a good-sized vibroblade or a vibrosword.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out. You are the winner of my thinly-disguised promotion of that site.

Why, thank you. I was tipped off by a source simply known as Posted Months Ago. In addition, he pointed out your second ruse: your promotion wasn't disguised at all. :P

Lanvarok. Basically it's like a thickish metal gauntlet designed to be used by one particular hand. When the user pulls the trigger or activates it with the force (as some models can be operated), a flurry of razor-edged thin metal disks fly out (in a shotgun-like spread pattern according to WotC). According to WotC, some Sith even used their telekinesis to guide the disks and improve their accuracy.
Why wonder why? The answer is simple: obviously, someone somewhere decided that he or she needed Baby Jesus up the ass.

A bit ranged then. oh well. Imperial Guard vibro blade then. Gotta love Kir Kanos and his bounty hunter/stormtrooper slaying antics.

The staffs are nice, but they suffered a major drop in Pcm approval when they stopped being protected by the energy arcs and started with that Phrik nonsense.

A lanvarok is also a very effective torture weapon, especially if you happen to be left handed.
Theres also a Massasi Lanvarok which is a bigger brute force version.

Also wrist mounted vibro-daggers are "leet" (Republic Commando).
Do blaster rifle butt's count  (Clone sergeants can use them to great effect in CW)

The length of the staffs (and the body of the Magnadroid's and Grievous- I think) are covered with Phrik, the edges of the staff's are covered with an energy field

Thank you, Mr. Obvious. Tell me something I don't know.

Edit: However, I can tell you something *you* don't know; According to the RotS VD, the Magnaguards and Grievous are duranium-plated, not Phrik.

Still I love the sound and they smash through stuff good. Even if they are made of a hyperdense magic material.

Hey on the plus side, if I'm down and out, I can halk it for a sector fleet worth of ships.
