You fucking suck.
Seriously, DMJ, moron though he is, has a better grasp of the tech then you do. "TLs are explosive, not thermal"? Are you high or just stupid?

Rather than a random insult that's of no constructive value whatsoever, why don't you try an explanation? You know, like what sensible people do.

Ah, I see what you have done. You have taken ONE line from my opening post and blown it out of all proportion. Granted, I could have phrased it better, but you didn;t need to blow up so childishly.Ender wrote:You fucking suck.

What I meant was, TLs have a way of making their targets explode (IE, like when TL shots hit enemy ships, they tend to go BOOM.)

More to the point, it appears you've read only one tiny bit of what I said. Why don't you try reading all of it and then come back to me with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism?

No, I took the si8ngle most idiotic of the entire retarded bunch. My constructive criticism- Learn what the fuck you are talking about.
TLs do travel at C - the Alderaan scene confirms that, the difference you bring up there is resolved by pointing out a beam need not be of qual power the entire time and that a higherpower bit comes later in synch with the tracer.
TLs being explosive - they make the targets explode by imparting enough energy to superheat and cause vaporization, exactly like a laser would.
Tls flak burst in ANH - it's a shield interaction, visually identical to every single shield strike in the series.
The only thing you got right is that they are not true lasers. But in terms of who had the correct position, you lost hardcore.

Bzzt. Wrong. Indeed, the very fact that damage DOES occur before the visible portion of the bolt hits the target is one of the points most frequently used to argue that, yes, TLS ARE c-speed weapons.Sothis wrote: 1. The visible component if a TL strikes the target at the same time that damage is seen to occur to the target. Therefore any invisible mechanism is clearly also travelling slower than light and is therefore also not a laser in the real sense.
As for 'TLs make thinks explode therefore they're explosive weapons', tell me you're kidding.
DMJ was a moron what with his frequency garbage but you didn't look all that hot there, either.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

I don't devote a lot of time to this subject, I am busy with a job, with a girlfriend, with friends, and possibly the most annoying brother humanity has ever faced. I based my conclusions off what I could see with the naked eye, and what I have gleaned from these boards. I don't have scientific degrees- this is FUN for me, so I cannot understand why on earth you felt the need to come down like a ton of bricks.

I went entirely with what I could see- I see a TL hit a target, the target explodes. To the naked eye (or at least mine), a TL would be fired, and damaged was not instantanious. Which to me, implied slower than C. Forgive me for not conducting a thorough scientific analysis, but I had more important things to do with my time.Batman wrote:Bzzt. Wrong. If you want to play the "I have a real life" dick wagging contest most any of us here will smoke you kid.
And the fact that this has been covered to the point of getting a moratorium and links to past debates shows that no, you didn't gleam anything from these boads.I based my conclusions off what I could see with the naked eye, and what I have gleaned from these boards.

I cannot believe how badly you did against DMJ especially since this debate is a "Same shit, different thread" debate.
The only point you could have scored was when DMJ said that "TL's are light based as a result they would have a frequency as a result Borg could adapt".
This is proved wrong by the fact that if the Borg adapted to light frequencies then they would essentially all appear to be black since no light would get past the shields. Yet you missed the chance to jump on this point.

Where on earth did I say I wanted a 'real life' comparison contest? Souinds to me that you're the one bragging about your job and life, not me- All I was pointing out is that I do not devote as much time to this debate as others- it is a low priority.Ender wrote:Lovely. Besides all the other things you got wrong, you really argued this from the wrong end of things. TNG showed that lasers are dangerous to Fed starships. When confronted with laser armed vessels, the main shields were raised, and when fired upon, the crew did their typical wobble around and shake routine, indicating damage. Besides this, Trek ships are very vulnerable to solar radiation, which is EM, which, if they could block lasers, would be no problem.
Watch out, here comes a Spiderpig!

Instead of focusing on Cspeed/not-Cspeed (it's hard to argue when the AOTC:ICS is so explicit about it), you should have focused a bit more on the fact that "SW Laser" has far too many exotic properties to simply be "RL Laser", such as the fact that the "glowing pulse" actually limits the range of the weapon... AND make a point of smacking him repeatedly with the canon evidence supporting the fact that the "Laser" quote of "The Outrageous Okona" is merely a hyperbole.
On the latter, sure, of course he is going to pull the standard Wall of Ignorance™ tactic of crowing complete canon support and crow victory while utterly ignoring the full picture of facts (:banghead:). The thing is, if you simply give ground at that point, especially when you can find contradicting evidence, you'll only end up dancing more and more to his tune.
