I don't suppose someone already mentioned the ultimate wanking? You know, a certain droid taking over the DeathStar and taking over the Empire?

What the hell is everyone's problem with that? He never actually did it, and there's no indication that his plan would have even worked.

He was going to start a droid revolution. Had he succeeded in taking over the DS, he planned to send a signal to all droids and made them turn on their masters. The Empire and Rebels both rely on droids, hell practically every group does.

Yeah, and besides, I think the story, while making IG-88 into very devious and powerful, also makes him exceedingly prideful, destined to fall. Boba Fett outwitting him thrice is the first thing. The second thing is that the story doesn't even end with him getting blown up in the DS2, but with him gloating at the "mosquitoes" flying into him.

I've almost always dismissed the BH Tales as not actually occurring. It's the 'tales' themselves that are official; but they merely exist as stories traded around the hyperspace lanes and cantinas. It's just the way they're narrarated and too outrageous to take at face value, I guess.

So, they basically exist in the same strata of canon as CW (e.g. exaggerated chinese-whisper style)?

As I understand it, the CW cartoons have been officially stated to be that way, whereas the BH Tales have not.

Where was it officially stated or do you mean fan/forum policy?

TFN may have misinformed me (it wouldnt be the first time) but L. Chee has stated something to that effect.

In the mace windu entry on TOS it mentios that the stuff we see him do in CW 12 & 13 are cartoons drawn by the child at the end of those shorts. This has been expanded to cover all the CW cartoons - the kid grows up to be a rebel sympathizer, and created cartoons showing the Jedi as good guys in action, as opposed to evil frauds like the Empire claimed.

Its officially exaggerated propaganda.

She is a well known background Jedi. Killing her adds all the more tragedy to the purge.

Fair enough explanation; if that was the reason, her inclusion certainly achieved its intended effect.

Wait, in that case why the heck did he make Grievous that damn badass?

The only part of CW that seems out-and-out overpowered is Mace's battle on Dantooine...and even that isn't THAT much more powerful than is believable. Everything else is within the characters' canon abilities, so far as I know.

And YES! Kit Fisto LIVES! ...well, maybe. I was pissed when he got taken down by Palpatine, not even a line to his credit, although he did last longer than anyone other than Mace...and it did look like he took a glancing blow rather than a full-on disemboweling. (The cut was below screen level, no less!)

Of course, even a glancing blow from a 'saber can very easily be fatal, and it's pretty much guaranteed that he is long dead by ANH, but in light of the lack of a body on-screen I'd like to think that he at least survived and escaped to be one of the Jedi hunted by Vader...or better yet, managed to survive, escape, retire to an ocean-planet and raise little squidlets ^_^

Whether he survived that or not, he still would've been offed in the Purge.

Actually, if you watch it closely, there is a thin orange gash in his torso...it's very hard to see with the naked eye. I don't have a way of watching it frame by frame or getting screen grabs, but it's there.

And I would think that if a living Jedi was still in the office down the hall (where Kit got slashed by Palpy), Palpatine's is more than likely strong enough in the force to detect it.

Eh, a wounded Kit might have been able to escape before Anakin slashed Windu...while Palpatine was toying with Mace before blowing him out the window, my favorite amphibious Jedi may just have gotten the heck out of Dodge.

I'll concede you that's entirely possible. If Kit survived Palpy's saber, that is. Too bad the scene happens so quick, it can go either way. Personally, Kit Fisto was my favorite Jedi on the council, and I would love to see him live. Aayla secura, Plo Kloon, all of them. Too bad the movie wouldn't work like that.

Personally, I wanted to see Fisto's silly tentacled head and shit-eating grin decapitated and staring glassily at Anakin from the tabletop, like in the novel.

Actually... Even on the CW Cartoon, characters DIE. The overeager Jedi that gets his skull crushed by Grievious' foot was quite graphic in my opinion.

Which jedi?
the Shaggy Padawan who gets squished or the other one who has his head smashed like an egg-shell.

When Shaa'Gi gets his head gibbed all of a sudden, in a shocking manner, I thought it was a rather nice introduction for General Grievous.

What the fucking hell?!!! (Not directed at you, Mr. Bookworm).
The EU.. seriously.. ugh.

Back on topic, regarding "x Jedi is alive!!!111", the fact that people care so much about these Jedi characters that they want them to live so badly (but they're dead, dammit!) really does show that folks actually feel the tragic nature of the whole event. This is good storytelling, isn't it?

No, the guy with the crushed head is dead, too. You're thinking of K'Krukh, the whiphid, who had to remain alive since he'd already appeared alive and well in material that took place months after the cartoon.

Blame Tartarovski's ignorance of continuity for that, not "EU retardedness."
