Indeed, this would just be a case of a totally pointless sequel fucking over a perfectly good original.Master of Ossus wrote:It should have no sequel. What would it cover? The librarian helping her out?

The only good thing about that movie was the multigun (the one that had homing bullets, freezethrower, rocket launcher, flamethrower, and who knows what other shit inside).
I personally felt the rest was a colossal waste of cash, and I never liked Milla Jovovich anyway.

I second Stormy's sentiment. DO you ever make more than one intelligent post out of every twenty or so? If that? I have been only following this thread, but your random postings of unnecessary bullshiot are going too far and getting too old too fast. I suggest you pipe down, else mods are going to be all over you.Mike_6002 wrote:The movie had Chris Tucker, that guy can drive people insane with his voice, plus the ending was pretty lame, Love is the 5th Element that was pretty gayneoolong wrote:Hey, the Fifth Element was cool.

Chris Tucker was supposed to be annoying. That was the point. And it's not that Chris Tucker that was necessarily annoying, it was the character. You ever see Friday, Rush Hour?Mike_6002 wrote:The movie had Chris Tucker, that guy can drive people insane with his voice, plus the ending was pretty lame, Love is the 5th Element that was pretty gayneoolong wrote:Hey, the Fifth Element was cool.
The ending wasn't bad and made sense. The love thing seemed to be what the movie was leading up to anyways.

[quite]Just one question, what's the difference between the cut and uncut versions?[/quote]
About twenty-five total minutes of footage. It details the continuation of Mathilda's "cleaner" training, adds a lot of details to the relationship between her and Leon, and explains how Leon became a hitman and moved to America, among other things. If you haven't seen it, go get it now. The Russian roulette scene is, in my opinion, the best acting of Natalie Portman's career thus far.
This movie used to be an obsession of mine. I've seen it at least 100 times over the years, easily. I even had the director's cut two years before it was released on DVD in the US.
For the last year or so, I've mulled over the idea of writing a fanfic based on the premise that Leon survived the showdown with the NYPD. In my version, Stansfield would be gunned down at the last moment by Benny. (He seemed capable of realizing Stan was nuts, and he was always a loose end anyway.) I'm not sure where it would lead, though, so I've never gotten around to actually doing it.

If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! PS:
If you look around on here...

...you'll find the first-draft script for Leon, translated (albeit roughly) from the French-language and out-of-print book L'Histoire de Leon. Here's a teaser: In this version, Mathilda dies.

Maybe another movie covering Leon's earlier years would be cool.

I agree. The Mathilda character was never as complex as Leon. And it would be interesting to see how he became the man he was.Stormbringer wrote:That'd be interesting provided it's pulled off right. All in all though, I don't really think it should have a sequel though.neoolong wrote:Maybe how Leon got recruited and his training as a cleaner?

I don't know. In the director's cut, Leon gives that little summary of how he became a hitman, and it doesn't sound like there's much material there for a second movie.
I'm not sure a sequel is warranted, but if it's going to be done, I'd rather see a sort of Nikita-type movie based around Mathilda.
