Can anyone shed any light on whatever this could be good for if it was a terrorist attack? Other than "damn Infidel dogs / bloody English oppressors / evil c4p1t4lists!, let's blow them up!" it seemingly makes no sense to blow shit up in London at this time. It's not going to get Great Britain to withdraw from Iraq any faster (I assume), it's not going to affect the G8 in any meaningful way, the elections have come and gone already so that's not going to be affected like they were with Madrid... It's a typical dumb terrorist attack. I don't see the possible gain off this other than set MI-5 on your tail (if they weren't already).

Not that terrorists ever really needed a goal to mess things up of course...

Police everywhere - no tubes, no buses, train stations closed all over the place.

How the fuck I'm getting home, God alone knows. Just realised how selfish that thought was - some people won't be going home at all.

Sky News reports Army deployed in Covent Garden. Should be on their website, but both it and the BBC site are understandably sluggish ATM, so I can't get you a direct link.
