I'm bloody impressed that its a near full House of Commons and that everyone hasn't just gone to ground.

Good, measured, calm. Bloody good speech. No hell-raising or finger pointing. Just an excellent statement of facts and the current state of affairs.

And the PM returning to take the COBRA chair this evening.

Airports open, says Clarke. Of course its raining now, so that'll slow the SAR.

Conservatives unsurprisingly give their full support to the government.

- People advised NOT to travel into London
- COBRA meetings chaired by Home Secretary until Blair comes back
Their out of date(not suprised, their busy travelling and cordinating), but we have 6 subway hits, 3 buses, more.
Its a suprise their keeping airports functional, but I think its more to prevent panic.

The statement from the govt. seems to have boosted the markets. The FTSE is now down only 118 points.

My God...i'm watching this on three channels, cutting between them as i can.

Six blasts, three in busses, and maybe two secondaries from what i hear. AT LEAST 90 casualties, i dont know the fatalities.

The busses look...decimated. I doubt anyone could survive.

Am i the only one who immediately thought IRA? I dont know why it's just i heard Britain and 'multiple explosions' and IRA was the first three letters to come to mind.

I'm really glued to the set here, trying to watch and type so some of this might sound wierd if i leave out any words or something.

From the looks of it London was really quite properly prepared for an attack of this magnitude. Everyone seems calm and collected for as far as that's possible given the situation.

To be honest, I think that there really is a good chance to oppertunity to do this has come because of G8. They've got police officers from all across the UK up in Scotland, and not just at Gleneagles, they've got a huge contingent of english police across at Ayr on the other coast, enough police.

I really doubt that the IRA were behind this. It would alienate their American supporters and the whole world since the G8 is in Britian ATM.

Not very secret if they announce their existence.

I like how al-Qaeda seems to have their own blog for reporting this sick shit. If it is them, something needs to be done. I expect it's another group claiming this "victory" in their name though.

And this won't be the IRA, forget them.

If those responsible wanted to stop the G8 summit, they have failed. Blair is allowing it to go ahead without him.

Blair is so fucking good at these things, this really is when he comes into his own.

He must be gutted though - his big plans for the G8 lie in ruins now.

It's the fucking religious nutjobs again.

The world has got to come up with an effective strategy to deal with people who think blowing other people up is somehow acceptable.
Honestly, I don't see any way to deal with them by force. All terrorists need is a small cell for a big attack. They don't need an infrastructure, so you can't find this infrastructure and blow it up.

That wasn't Blair, that was the home Secretery.
Fox news(grain of salt), reported that a Jihad cell of AQ has claimed responsibility.

More confirmation of the obvious.

You can't imagine the impact this will have. The people here may be resilient to the hilt, they did laugh off the Blitz afterall, but when the morning papers today are full of large images of celebrations in London over the winning of the Olympic bid, it puts this into contrast.

Blair looked like hell, by that i mean he looked very upset about this. Pissed too. Someone is going down for this.

The Brits is the fightinest people on the planet, they didnt blink at the goddamn Blitz and that made 911 look like some kids with firecrackers, whoever did this is going to be in a world of hurt very soon.
