Alyrium Denryle wrote:Yes true the pokemnon are capable of using some of the same effcts. But the mages defenses are tailored for all sources of a given attack. If mage is hit by a fireall, his energy buffer is going to protect him just as well as if a charizard used flamthrower. And when the mage is raining death in the form of spells that use different types of elements you will find that the pokemon will not be able to defend against everything. Especially is the mage is high leveled enough to cast prismatic sphere. That spell blocks everything out, even mental attacks, and yet still allows the caster to fight. The pokemon equivalents to the spells used to dispell the sphere will not work, because it is not the effect that performs the dispelling, but the structure of the spell itself.

In response to all pokemon being transported to my epic level campaign world  They will be destroyed.

Can see it now....

An army of arcane archers, mages, and eldritch warriors forms up in front of a sea of pokemon.

Arcane archer commander (wis50 arc20):Amenohi dax tirak felinin

Death arrows rain from the sky in the first volley, killing several thousand pokemon.

Elritch warrior commander (ftr20/wiz50/Eldw5 duelist1): Charge!

Thousands of robe wearing men wielding rapiers with grace charge into the fray, when thier swords hit, destructive spells explode in destructive death, while thier runeweave robes and defensive spells protect them from the pokemons pathetic attacks.
Mage commander: Take flight

Thousands of high level mages(all >20th level, it is an epic world after all) take flight and begin casting carefully shaped spells into the mellee(so as not to hit thier own troops) raining death down apon the hapless pokemon.

Fireballs, and acid globs mingle with ice and electrical energy as spells fly across the battle field.

Chained disintegrate spells burst into being when the swods of the eldritch warriors hit thier targets, killing all pokemon in the area. A scyther slashes at an eldritch warior, only to find that his attacks are absorbed by the glowing robes.

Special pokemon attackes explode on the energy buffer and elemental protection spells. A flight of Pidgeots tries to make an attack run on the flying mages. But the mages are to fast, and the birds flying to quickly to turn away, as walls of force appear infront of them. Thier shattered corpses fall to the ground, those that remain are quickly brough down as fireballs explode like shot from a flak cannon, ripping into thier feathery bodies.

When the corpses pile up on the ground waist deep, the eldritch warriors stop fighting and cast prismatic sphere on themselves.....And then the corpses of the slain pokemon catch fire and explode in a shimmering radience of destructive energy, vaporizing everything that is not defended against the corpsefire spell.

That would be what would happen
Well yeah, assuming:

A: they knew what they all were, and decided to just attack them

B: They had the Magic Power to take on an entire planetary animal population

C: The Pokemon were all in one spot, trying to battle them.

Oh, and I have one question before I counted the Prismatic Sphere.

Can the caster see or hear through it?

I did not ignore it. I told you that the Unoun are not a Swarm Deity. They are just a Swarm. They are all induviduals.

You know, I've been giving a lot of information, but you've been rather tight-lipped. Perhaps some more information on the Avatar Spell would help.
I've explained it. But here's the details I haven't mentoned, since you asked.

It's range is across planes of existance(Karsus could be safe in Netheril and hit Pokeworld with with it, in other words). It's duration is instant. It's spell components include cool stuff like the gizzard of a Gold Dragon, a Tarrasque's pituitary gland, shitloads of Heavy Magic, and so forth. It evades all divine precignition(In other words, even if the Unoun can see attacks before they happen, they will be blind to the attack). It penetrates all defenses. It does not allow the target a saving throw.

This spell is so powerful, every deity in every plane of existance instantly shit themselves and barred all magic above 9th level after it's casting during Netheril. The few regions where it can still be cast now have shitloads of powerful creatures around.. Sent by the many, many, many pantheons to prevent anyone from unleashing it.

Yep, that is a nasty spell.

But I see the one problem with it.

Yea, if the target is the source of magic it can cut off the flow and leave you fucked when Candlemas' character shield overcomes Karsus' and steals magic.(Did I mention I liked the Sunbright trilogy?)

I await whatever theory you have which would fall in the face of the fact entire pantheons shit themselves at the casting of this.

Gee, a weapon with unlimited range, no real defense against it, and the ability to allow mortals to lay them low. I have no idea why the Gods of all Pantheons be scared of it... (end sarcasm)

Not a problem I have, but a flaw in the spell itself.

It's like the one time Daffy beat Bugs in that talent competition: "Yeah I know, I know! but I can only do it once!"

You said it yourself:
It's spell components include cool stuff like the gizzard of a Gold Dragon, a Tarrasque's pituitary gland, shitloads of Heavy Magic, and so forth.

I could be wrong, but I do believe that Gold Dragons and Tarrasques normally do not part willingly from their body parts. Not to mention the rarity of such monsters.

In other words: Choose your target carefully, 'cause you only get one shot at this.

Actually, as I learned playing the adventure 'How The Mighty Are Fallen', it's very easy to get plenty of Tarrasque glands.

Cripple Tarrasque. Cut out gland. Nail creature to ground with 30 meter tall iron spikes, chain it down with chains that could hold continents. Let it regenerate the gland. Cut it out again.

Just, whatever you do, don't disintigrate the body and bring the gland with you.

And once you're a God, AD&D spellcasting no longer requires you to have components.

Ugh, could you please stop it with the retarded Spacebattles style "humour"? (Also known as spam/bullshit threads/retarded in-jokes). This kind of crap is the reason I left SB in the first place.

Epic level mages sure as hell do, I was toying with them in that little discription, you see they would all be transported to the same place, so they would be that way. They probably would do that, the mages in my campaiign world have been planning an invasion of pokeworld for some time now.

Yes the mage can see and hear, albeit poorly outside of a prismatic sphere. Why, nothing you do can effect the mage while he is inside it.

They still get a save against a sleep attack.

and at 44th level that's not hard.

Next my 40th level Bard counters with a romantic ballad, resulting in the equivalent of Power word F***.

That is wll well and good, but the mage guilds in my camaign world are dominated by elves, nearly all mages are elves, especially the ones at those character levels(humans just dont have the lifepan to reach such high level) And quess what PokeBoy, Elves are immune to ALL sleep inducing effects, because they are incapable of sleep.

(Dirty old man mode)

after many, many hours of Doinking the Drow Priestess the fighter thought he could finally get some rest.

"More!" she commanded

with a sudden horrible realization he remembered elves don't sleep
