That's amazing. I'm quite sure that at 11am or so it was down 180 points.

Having England hit with a terrorist attack is like having it hit at home. Many consider England to be our Brother/Sister, and most of remember the tribute given by England after 9/11.
Apparently Blair has arrived in London and also all G8 discussions on poverty and climate have been postponed until tomorrow.

Just been catching up with the news. I got up this morning completely oblivious to what was happening, my mind more on my own health issues than anything esle when I get a call from my dad.
"Check the TV, CNN, FOX, anybody."
I got a chill down my spine. My brother made a similar call to me on 9/11 and I saw the second plane hit live on TV.
I switch to CNN and there's coverage about the London bombing. I remember there's no work today for me and I whisper a thank you because being stuck on a NYC subway after hearing about this scares the shit out of me. My friends at work told me there are NYPD everywhere, at nearly every station and the National Guard are out in force in Grand Central and other key stations.
Our London Office is still trying to account for everyone.
My heart goes out to all Londoners and English in general. I know you guys have been through this and worse in the past but that doesn't mean you can't use a word of encouragment and support this day.
Wherever you go, there you are.

My condolences and sympathies to all that are affected by this incident.
I'm very impressed by the way the Brit people and officials are treating this. The speach the London mayor gave (Livingstone right?) was truly great, and Blair, while not being as eloquent, was driping true resolve that nothing will change.
As for the people, well, its best explained like this. One of our local TV stations managed to get the our previous ambassador in the UK who now workes in London as a banker. When asked about work he simply said "Today, there are about 30% employees not at work due to transportation issues, tommorow we expect everyone to be at work". That, the calm interviews with the people who were on the trains and the whole emergency response team handling of the situation just gets a whole crapload of respect from me.
Me & a couple of my friends have been saying something like this was due to happen, but we always figured it would happen somewhere in the US. We had NYC, LA, San Fran, Chicago, and Boston as the most likely targets for a transportation terrorist attack.
I don't know what to say, this is just awful.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.
Indeed I'm proud of the way Londoner's and my fellow Brits have been handling this situation. I'm proud of our leaders, and I'm normally very anti-Blair, today he showed the same promise he did when he first took office. I'm even more impressed with Ken Livingstone, his statement was perfect.
From a review of the two Towers.... 'As for Gimli being comic relief, what if your comic relief had a huge axe and fells dozens of Orcs? That's a pretty cool comic relief. '

Talk about horrible luck.
Actually, I'd say it's damn good luck. I'd take that kind of luck any day of the week.
England has a lot of experience dealing with terrorists. I hope they bring down the full weight of their resources on hunting these scumbags down and their entire network making England, and the world a better place.
Fuck! I logged off a bit before this happened and didn't log back in until now, after watcjhing a bit on the news. My condolences to the UK.

I wouldn't start painting devil's on the walls, as we say here, because there isn't anything to indicate that this incident would be the last of its kind. I hope I'm wrong, but I expect that this kind of shit will be going down every couple of years, as there isn't really much you can do to stop this type of attacks.

A group, the "Secret Organization group of al Qaeda Organization in Europe," claimed responsibility in a Web site posting. The authenticity of the claim could not immediately be verified.

And that's what scares the hell out of me. Chances are small that they can pull off another attack on the scale of 9/11, but medium sized attacks such as this one which can still paralyze a city are not that hard to do.

This could be only one attack of a couple. Since the G8 summit is a couple of days, for all we know there could be another hit elsewhere in another major city like Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh.
MAN! Some people just piss me off. I was going through some blogs and xanga rings. And people are writing a line or two saying, "Yikes! another attack!" And spending the next several paragraphs writing about how their significant other pissed them off, what they had for lunch or writing how London got the Olympic bid. Some people.. wow.
I have just heard Terminal 3 of Heathrow has been evacuated. I'm amazed they've not stopped air travel, especially with the busiest airport in the world next door to these attacks.

That's what I fear too.. a perfect opportunity to get attention
Update on specifics, currently there were 3 bombs on the subway, but one or more of the bombs affected another train so it appeared to be 4 bombs, and then some trains had two exits so it appeared to be 6 bombs.
If that "multiplying bomb" illusion was planned those terrorists were devious indeed, but I'd mark it down to confusion and luck...
Subway will be online in 1 day, buses this afternoon, supposedly.
