Holy shit! That looks amazing! The appearance of the units is definitely inspired by TA and Mega Force. Man, I've always wanted an RTS with Mega Force-style scale and ueber-wank units. And that nuke! Simply incredible...

It is one of the super units. Each side get a mega sized unit. (in this case the big spider walkers are from a machine faction) One thing about those spider walkers is that if there little brethren get in the way, they get squished by their bir brother. :)

I think each side gets SEVERAL mega-sized units.

Some really crazy stuff were mentioned. Aside from the sea destroyer that can crawl onto land that was already mentioned, there's an aircraft aircraft carrier, a submarine aircraft carrier, a tank factory that crawls along on the ocean floor,,,,.... yeeesh.

A couple of those screenshots reminded me of the +makeposter command from TA. (But this will be in realtime!)

Enjoy.

Air transports that carry tons of units at once. Active and Passive Radar/Sonar. Aircraft that can kamikaze. Mobile theater sheilds. Cybran aircraft have low radar signature. Terran Aircraft spam the radar with false signatures. And Aeon aircraft are cloaked until they fire. I think I am in love.

Did you notice how the graphics scale in match with the viewing distance (Compare the nuke pic with little dots to the water tanks).
Looks friggin awesome anyways :D

I've read through all of the articles and haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Quote?

Which had the pictures look much better, though it lacks the "OMFG THATS A FUCKING BIG BATTLESHIP" picture.

Taylor: Supreme Commander will likely be the most modable game we have ever developed here at Gas Powered Games.
Hmm...already-existing ueber-wank Mega Force-style units with the capability to heavily mod the game? Can anyone say Objective Interim Light Land Assault Vehicle?

OILLAV

This would fit right in with UEF design philosophy. Let's make it happen, people.

How bout a 40K mod. Someone on SB mentioned that with the scale involved in SupCom, the 40K side would have to be made up of almost all titans or superheavy vehicles. :P

Actually, it looks roughly the same size as the battleship. So I guess it could be done.

Whoa! This game looks very impressive. I'm usually not a strategy game fan, but this one got my interest.

However, until I see exactly how we're supposed to control all of that I'll stay just mildly excited about it. But it is from the guys that made Total Annihilation, which is a comforting thought.

I wonder who gets the flying aircraft carrier, though. My guess would be the Aeons, which to me looked like the more interesting faction.

well, all the games you've played before aren't *really* strategy games, they're base management + tactics. This, apparently, is strategy in every sense of the word.

I didn't say I never played them before. I've had my share of Command & Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft, Total War and so on. The genre just never really was my big favorite.... and resource gathering still irks me if it's too clumsy.

Previous RTSs have lots of focus on build orders and building placement. After a while, it gets tiring trying to get a certain set of build orders down to the second, especially in DoW. I'm hoping SupCom makes it so that build order becomes part of a strategy rather than an always necessary set of steps.
