Eh? Wot now? Speak up, yon cross-dresser.
Its a new way to unlock skills, upgrade and other things for you PvP characters.

You earn faction through compeditative missions in PvP and then spend those points in RP at a priest of Balthazar (whoch are in every city) to unlock things skills, upgrades, etc.

There's a few pre-20 arenas and such, but for the most part, yeah, it's good to be 20. Your skills are a little more important though, and you also don't get your last 30 attribute points until you do a couple quests after Ascension.

But then, that's what PvP chars are for.

Got the game along with some friends about a week ago. Very cool. Utterly crushes WoW.

Currently a lv9 Elementalist/Necro (name: Vall Tamerlane). My friends are around lv11-13. I restarted far too many times until I finally mustered the strength to resist the mangina's cyan pigtails.

We have a lot of money from selling Black Dye and were about to start a guild. If we could start one with some other people too, that would be pretty cool.

I'm having a great time with the game. I've got a level 15 warrior/mesmer named Aarrek Solaris, who's had a lot of fun in the arenas. A mesmer/elementist who I probably wont continue around 8, Count Armande Luzio, and my current character, an elementist mesmer named Calypso of Aotearoa. Yeah, a female character - but I wanted to play elementist primary and cant stand the elementist male's graphics :)

I've started a guild with Spyderizer named NZEF, New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Our cape is a silver ram's skull on a black base. We play on the American servers - if any other Kiwis play the game, get in touch.

I probably won't be on today (got crap to do), but if Beowulf's around he can invite you. Or post your name and I can add you to my friend list and talk to you if I see you on.

Warrior/Mesmer? How's that treating you? I've heard a awful lot of bad things about that combination.

I actually like it so far. I've only been playing in the RPG arenas though, not with a dedicated PvP character. In the <11 and <16 arena I've done well in both.

I'm focusing on domination magic with my mesmer, and that's come in quite handy with empathy causing significant problems for other warriors and rangers, and Power Spike and other spells great against casters - I especially love power spike, interrupting spellcasting and damaging the caster.

Considering I've been playing with my first character, and a good deal of others have both more experience and are twinked with items other characters on their accounts have found for them, I think I've done pretty well. We'll see how things go once I get to an arena that has characters up to 20 though.

My Elementalist is basically a nuker, no fancy shit here. Lava font, fireball, firestorm, eruption, all great stuff for PvE and useful in certain PvP cases.

Ok, I now gave in and bought it.
If my computer holds itself together, I'm even able to play it. It looks really cool. Good graphics.
Currently just a measly lvl 2 necro, but I might have interest in joining a SD.net guild

Its in the catacombs. You'll know you're near it when you hit a looooooooooong hallway, and right about in the middle of it are some stairs that looks like they go nowhere. go up them, then down into this sacrificial chamber looking thing. The bird is hard to see, but as long as you get near it, you're good.

Oh, and there's 3 tomb nightmares that show up and try to eat you.

I've got Guild Wars and Rail Road Tycoon 3 yesterday and will install GW after this message. Hopefully I can get the name Edward Nigma or Enigma. :)

Wootage!
It is really fun game, now if someone more knowledgable can fill me in on those focus items and weapons. Some will work when I put them on, some have that stop sign. It must be something very trivial I'm missing here... :)

Do you have the requisite attribute high enough? For example, a typical low-level Healing Ankh focus item might give a +4 to energy, but require the character to have, say, 5 levels in Healing Prayers, a Monk skill.

The same is true of weapons. A sword might require 3 Swordsmanship, or an axe 6 Axe Mastery, etc.
