How the hell does "Braveheart" qualify as Sci-Fi ?

I as watching "Stargate" on the Sci-Fi Channel just a few minutes ago and they had an ad for "Braveheart" as one of there Scinema Events......WTF!!?? Did I miss the William Wallace as a clone alien hybrid scene, or is Sci-Fi just giving up on original programming altogether and becoming TNT with John Edward? Fuck, I might as well cancle cable, Sci-Fi was abouty the only thing I ever watch , now no Farscape, no B5(at a decent time when Im home) and that fucking coniving con man John Edward on all the fucking time.......Fuck it.......

Sci-Fi is apparently run by a group of people who know nothing about science fiction. As a result, they've been moving it toward more "conventional" stuff with just a little sci fi thrown in.

Don't forget they have a number of orginal made-for-tv movies. Some of them aren't that bad. I actually liked the one with Bruce Campbell and Chase Masterson. And, I'm glad that Stargate Sg-1 got renewed for a seventh season.

What Terwynn said. Seems that they're trying to broaden their range - and their ratings - at the expense of the channel's original target audience. Either that or they're taking whatever syndication deals they can get.

As to "BH" being divorced from reality, I know its about as accurate as a class of third graders re-enacting Omaha beach......but thats not the point, its NOT in any way, shape or form SCIENCE FICTION......which I thought was the whole point behind having a Sci-Fi Network.

Though I like the theory that Braveheart could be defined as SF or fantasy considering that any resemblance between the movie and the actual history of William Wallace is purely coincidental.

One of the main reasons why BH wound up on the SciFi lineup is due to the fact that USA Networks, which own SciFi, hold the syndication rights to this movie and will use it to fill time on the SciFi lineup just as they use The Stand to fill time on USA.

And the programming philosophy of the Channel... well, just don't get me started on that rant.

Although it won't mean much to American's our Sci-Fi channel over here in the UK is actually quite good, the furthurest from Sci-Fi thewy got was a programme they ran called Unthinkable which still sounded like a great programme.... (It was on at a time where I am guareented to never get the TV... I.E before Midnight and after 4PM )

But on the theme of... Channels no longer having anything in common with the name they carry, UK Gold's programming seems to include more and More US stuff... where I can't even hear a UK extra.... ever! Names of stations rarely if ever it seems have anything to do with the contents, oh well.
