My three favorites, though there are many more. Note that the Guild Lord (the objective in GvG battles) is right around where the current NPCs are in each hall type. A few NPC soldiers are typically positioned around the Guild Lord and amongst the battlements. The rez shrine is usually near the Guild Lord area.

Burning Isle (Volcanic islands theme)

Tactical considerations:
  • The Guild Lord is somewhat vulnerable, but his soldiers have the higher ground (important for archers).
  • Lava everywhere, blocking many paths as well as the central flag (important during GvG battles). Lava inflicts "Burning" condition on anyone going through it.

Wizard's Isle (Pre-Searing Ascalon)

Tactical considerations:
  • Of the three here, has the most defensible Guild Lord. Archers will have some elevation advantage.
  • Very conventional set-up and terrain, yielding logical movements and tactics. Unsure if the gate mechanic present in beta still applies.

Isle of the Dead (Ascalon catacombs)

Tactical considerations:
  • Very vulnerable Guild Lord. Surrounded on two sides by higher ground in addition to a hey-diddle-diddle-straight-down-the-middle approach. A nice wonderful kill-zone, in other words.
  • Reasonably defensible corridors helps offset the above.
  • Tar pits in the middle surrounding the flag slow movement by 30%. Catwalks above them provide for some interesting situations.

Took me two days. Then again, I had a good group the first night.

You're there. The last couple missions there can be a real bitch, though. Won't take long at all if you're not a rabid completionist like me who has to do every solo quest before moving on.

I have a mission in which I have to deliver a sextant to a priestess, but the mission doesn't show me the usual green arrow to point me the way. How the hell do I know I am going the right way?

That one's annoying, but will ultimately take you to an outpost you wouldn't otherwise reach. Try starting from Fort Ranik or Frontier Gate, go into the wilderness, and it should give you the arrow then (it only gives an arrow if it's within two areas of you).

So what's the word on the guild hall? Should I put up screens of more types? Chardok gave me the sigil, I'm just waiting on a decision for the type of hall...

Um.... Wow.

While doing the Gates of Kryta mission, not only did I find an 11-20 Icy Short Bow of Marksmanship, but I also found a 11-20 Gold Earth Rod with +9 energy. I'm pretty sure that's max damage for that type of weapon.

I ended up failing the mission, but those two items (the gold earth rod especially) more than make up for it.

I've got three weapons sets.

My main weapon is a Shocking Mursaat Hammer of Fortitude, damage of 19-35 plus the 20% customisation bonus.

My secondary is a Rare Gladius, I can't remember the abilities though, it does 15-22 damage, coupled with a Shield of the Wing at armour rating 16

My last is a Poisoners Longbow with damage of 15-24. Unfortunately, since I don't have marksmanship I'm not too good at using it, but there have been times I've really badly poisoned some enemies removing them from the fight quickly.

I have just made a startling discovery; henchies are fucking stupid.

I just died on my seventh attempt to clear out those damn swamps on the Gates of Kryta mission. Everytime we get there, the swamps kill off the henchies because their too goddamn dense to move two feet to their right to get the hell out.

I can't even pull enemies on to the grass because everytime I try to, my team does the fantasy version of The Charge of the Light Brigade. Except in the poem, some actually survived. That never happens in this version.

By the way, I found an alternate route to Lion's Arch, everyone. If you need an escrot, I'm all over it. you'll need to go carefully, though. The things you will be fighting on the way (And I mean GOBS of things) are mesmers/necros. Working TOGETHER. You're going to be hurting everytime you even THINK about swinging a weapon or casting a spell. and God help you if you miss alot.

Nice...

In order to be able to play the game, do you have to buy it for the company price straight from a store, or could you theoretically buy it through some other service (ie: Half.com) for a leser cost?[/Dumb but nevertheless pressing question]
This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.

You need a never used CD-Key. Used ones aren't such a great idea. Cheapest I've found it for is $36. Second cheapest is Amazon @ $40.

Guess it wasn't so dumb after all. Thanks.

I just hope this fresh key idea doesn't extend to re-loads, 'cause if the shit ever hits the fan and I have to take it off only to find it doesn't work when I get it back on...

EDIT: Oh, that's great, then. I'll take a look once I get back to college and a high-speed connection.
