Sound not working all of a sudden

Post by Pcm979 »

Another problem from me. This morning, the sound on my PC stopped working for no appearent reason; It was fine last night. All the leads are in their sockets, and restarting hasn't cleared the problem up. Any advice on what I should do next?

Little things like telling us what your OS, sound card, speakers etc are really would help.

Okay. In that case, I need help on finding out what my sound card is.

Yes, I'm not that good with PCs. I blame it on using Macs most of the time.

If it makes you feel better one of the speakers on my 5.1 sound system just stopped working at one stage.

I thought it was the wiring(cat has shredded some light wiring before), or even the actual electronics on the 5.1 reciever.

Instead it was a software switch on my computer controlling what was outputed to the various outputs. The Subwooffer + middle speaker had been swapped with the back left & right speakers :P

My 5.1 speakers stopped working. I got home from a trip last night, and I wanted to play a round of BF2 before sacking out - and no sound.

The fuse in the back of sub/amp blew  Time for a trip to radio shack.
