9 in 1 media Card Reader - What is it?

Post by Stravo »

I'm perusing the Dell Site because of my frustrations with my current computer I'm using it as an excuse to actually research getting a new system. Dell offers a 9 in 1 media card reader slot in place of (or in addtion to) a 3.5 inch drive. Now seriously guys, how often will I use this thing? Is it somethng to have for future devices? Is it a boondoggle that unless I'm heavy into multimedia I'll never use?

A media reader that can read a nine different mediacards like.

Microdrive
Secure Digital
Memory Stick and so on.

If you have a digital camera then I would recommend that you get that one.

3.5 inch disk is next to useless.

The problem with digital media is that every device you own inevitably uses a different format -- SD in your camera, MMC in your MP3 player, Memory Stick in your laptop ..... an all-in-one reader ends up being fairly convenient, but there are a lot of cheap after-market USB-connecting card readers you can get if you pass on it here.

an assistant district attorney, and a stenographer

Or he can get it built in and not have to worry about taking up unnecessary usb ports. ;)
