Yevetha vs Yuuzhan Vong

Post by Dark Primus »

Lets say the Yevetha didn't launch any attack upon the galaxy in Black FLeet Crises era. They bid their time to build up a larger fleet till the Yuuzhan Vong arrives. They see them as a growing threat to their plans, so they instead works with New Republic for information on the YV. And when it is only two months left till Yuuzhan Vong attack upon Coruscant the Yevetha launches with all of their military might upon the unsuspected but battle hardened YV.

Their goal is to eradicate them, purge them from the galaxy and end their threat. What will happen?

The Vong wipe out the Yvetha. I'm sorry, but there is simply no way the Yvetha can hope to match the Vong in terms of sheer numbers. As much as I hate the biowank of the Vong, they do have massive numbers on their side, which is a huge asset in a fight. The Yvetha don't have anything greater than one functioning Executor-class vessel, and I don't think the shipyards they have are capable of building any more. That means lots of thrustships, which are durable but lack much punch, and ISDs. They lack TIEs, I believe, and I don't know how Yvethan fighters would scale to determine how many they could carry. They could cause some damage, but the Vong simply have too much at their disposal. Especially seeing as this is pretty much the height of the Vong's power. After the fall of Coruscant and the formation of the GFFA, things start turning around, but before Coruscant, the Vong have kicked the NR silly almost everywhere.

Now, the Yvetha initially have a strong force, but if they're pitted against the full Vong armada, they'll get creamed, especially if they don't improve their tactics. The concept of concentrating fire on one target is apparently beyond them, per BFC, so they'll suffer horrid casualties as they waste time switching targets. They might be able to hold their own initially, but over time they will get worn down and the Vong will eventually slaughter them.

The Yevetha weren't necessarily a major military threat to the galaxy at large.... they were a destabilizing force, that used politics to foment confusion, during which they managed to secure the Koornacht cluster. If their goal had been galactic domination, it would have been laughable.

The Yevetha got wiped out by the Vong in the NJO, and I doubt a few dozen imperial warships would have helped them do much better, as they only had around a dozen worlds.

And that was after the Yevetha had amassed a new fleet to attack the New Republic again. The Vong wiped them out easily even with the Yevetha at their strongest military capacity since the Black Fleet Crisis.

If I remember the Yevetha correctly from the Black Fleet crisis, they are not an asset as an ally, and not particularly bright in a fight. The Vong would crush them easily in their first mindless rush.

Which they did. Completely exterminated them, in fact.

 Errn... As has been pointed out... should have read the thread more closely. Can anyone remember which NJO book did this happen in? I haven't followed the series religiously. Well, I suppose I can research this myself too...

They weren't my favorite SW race, but the way they were presented made a lasting impression. They are so adorably squishable, like Ewoks, only more obviously deserving. The Vong were just gross.

I can't recall the book it happened in, but it's not worth trying to search for it, since it happens off-page and all that's encountered is the aftermath.

I thought the end of BFC explained that the Yevetha fell into massive social despair after Nil Spaar's defeat, engaging in mass ritual suicides that almost completely decimated the populace?

I think that was only for the Military.

Thanks. Off to the library. Actually, this is one title that, like Ruin, never seems to be there... I hate investing in a book before reading it though, so hopefully I'll get lucky.

As has been mentioned already, it happens off camera or off page so to speak. Only the aftermath is seen. Although the stuff with the Empire later on is worth sticking around for I think.
