"I was once the learner, but now I am the master."

Well, I am normally not a first person shooter player but having watched my younger brother play this game and then trying the demo out, I got hooked on faster than a hobo to crack. This game is amazingly addicting and I've been playing the demo non-stop: it has ruined my life. Its the only thing I can think about when I'm working at my shitty summer job and its the only thing that keeps me going. I come home and I play it until two or three in the morning, sleep four or five hours, wake up and play again until I leave for work.

But now I am planning on getting the full game soon with a headset so I can play against other folks and my own kin as well. He has been playing first person shooter games for a lot longer than myself, having played many of the major names such as Medal of Honor, Counter Strike, and other notables that I can't think of currently.

So, to all of you advance players out there, how does an advance player play? I try to aim for the heads but when I'm suddenly being fired at, I lost control and just start shooting for the body. The hardest thing for me is control/discipline. When under fire, I find myself lacking aim and precision and speed.

But having played it so much, I've picked up some simple tricks that's helped me survive a lot longer. I think smarter now: I throw grenades into buildings before entering, I steady my firing (no more automatic firing but precise one shots to the heads), I jump around and stagger my movements to throw off enemy firing, and I attack for the side and rear.

One of my most major complaints is how unaccurate the support personnel's heavy machine gun is. Its hard to provide covering fire when the bullets don't seem to hit anything; just a slight tune up, nothing major, would be appreciated. Other than that, I think the game is a total blast.

Anyways, I could use some tips from advance first person shooters out there as I'm a somewhat noob to the whole genre, not that I'm not learning fast though (given how the game has instructed me to keep playing it forever........). Much appreciated :D

First of all, don't bunnyhop, it's for total fuckwads. Zigzag, prone, hell, even circle strafe if you really must, but don't bunnyhop.

As for combat tips... hm. I don't think about where or how I'm shooting anyone anymore unless I'm a sniper or something. I aim and fire faster than I can think. For BF2 in particular: Iron sights are your friends. Anything beyond short-medium range should be fired in controlled bursts (or single fire depending on exact range) with the sights up. Much, much more accurate. Mastering switching from hip to sights and back quickly is essential.

Learn your weapon binds and learn to switch quickly. Grabbing your pistol quickly in a firefight can be a huge difference. It's also important to a variety of special kits, especially medic.

Stand, crouch, prone. Know when to use each. Prone stance gives a noticeable edge in taking splash damage, if you're getting hit with grenades, artillery, or anything that spews shrapnel and you can't get out of range, go prone. Avoid firing from standing when possible, always fire from crouching on the move and prone if stationary.

When in doubt, Go Prone™.

Last but not least... don't be a fuckwad. Don't punish accidental TKs, don't jump out of a moving vehicle, don't run over mines (especially friendly ones), don't take dogfights to the map's flight ceiling (total fuckwad move), don't bunnyhop, and don't do anything that would get your squad killed.

Good luck!
