BTW, can someone explain the 32-point-buy system to me...I can't find it in the SRD, and I don't have a PHB any more.

YES! I'd love to play.

Well, the setting is...huge, really, but for this it'll take place mostly in Calimsham (a former genie kingdom, now headed by humans, a major trade center. You'll run into lots of shady characters; thieves, corrupt politicians, just about anyone you can think of, at least in Calimport. (Calimsham's main port and largest city.)Pcm979 wrote:Right now? Yipe. Okay, brainstorm.
Half-Elf intrigues me, but I think I'll go with either Human or Dwarf. Yeah, the Dwarven stuff looks nifty. Lawful Neutral. Since I really don't know that much about the setting, it would probably be best that the character doesn't know too much about it either. Probably Fighter class. Any chance of him having a pet?
How's that for a start?

*gives the dicefreaks variant his Stamp of DM Approval* It looks pretty nice, not unbalanced, just gives the sorcerer more flavor. And yes, amoral characters are welcome. After all, we can't have the world too full of LGs, now, can we?the .303 bookworm wrote:Can I play an amoral character (CN or NE or N), probably a sorceror (using the dicefreaks variant) if not that then a fighter/barbarian.

Hey, join in, no player is useless to a DM. Of course, you'll still probably end up as an efreeti's plaything, but thats natural.Ford Prefect wrote:Intruiging, says I. However, I'd more or less useless to you, but none the less, intruiging.

I'd like to play a technomagic-inventor. Stuff like a "decanter of endless water" turned into a water cannon, or some iron bands of billarro. What level are we at? I'd like to play a human, but I'm flexible.
I'm very familiar with d&D, though not Faerun. I'd probably be CN or CG. I love to create new kinds of characters. What is the setting?
Heck, maybe I'll be a desert-nomad paladin with two scimitars!

We also get the two stats boosts for levels 4 and 8, correct?

Would a Soulknife work if we replaced all "psionic" references with "magic"? It would be easier with this class as opposed to, say, a Psionic Warrior or a Psion since the Soulknife class doesn't get any powers beyond stuff related to their Mindblade (being able to call it, making it more powerful, etc.)Captain tycho wrote:Sorry, psionics don't exist in faerun aside from the natural spell like abilities alot of critters have, plus its a pain in the ass to run a game with psionicists.

Mmmm, I'll tinker with it and see if it'll work out. Probably just end up calling it a mageblade.Civil War Man wrote:Would a Soulknife work if we replaced all "psionic" references with "magic"? I'll play but am unfamiliar with the way it is played online. Also, I run my life vaguely GMT and can be unreliable due to connection problems. If you're parties not too big then a sanctimonious LG Necromancer could join in if you wanted?
Good luck if I am in or out.
P.S. Irritatingly will be away for a few days now. I'll make sure the character is ready for my return.

Cool. Is the Xeph a valid race? If not, is there some way to integrate some of those special abilities into the class (particularly the temporary speed boost one. I want my guy to be fast )Captain tycho wrote:Mmmm, I'll tinker with it and see if it'll work out. Probably just end up calling it a mageblade.
Anyway, my character will probably be NE, though not the evil alignment that goes "I'll burn down this orphanage because I can", but the really self-serving, egotistical evil.

I can live with that (or can I?). So long as you've got nothing against evil dwarves. My experience in this sort of thing is limited to Inquisitor (which kicks major ass by the way) which is of course somewhat difficult. As such, I was more or less lost as soon as I started reading the SRD.

Ooh something to do, I need something to do, and my perfect chance to test out one of my concepts. Think Leon Trotsky before Lenin got ahold of him.
Specifcly a Nuet/G Soc who engineered the downfall of his own king because he was so evil, but nearly ended up on the pike himself because he lead the revolt in secret and the mob picked him as well.
Leading him to hoof it for the border minus most of his worldy goods.

Name is TBA but I'll see if I can work something off of Trosky into there.Ford Prefect wrote:Is he called Trotsky? Because that's an awesome character concept. I personally go for the partially insane dwarf.

Can we get some parameters? Starting level, perhaps?

Yeah, I was about to say what Bean said, but then I had to go and write about my own character. Shucks.
Anydangway, I think I have my ability scores charted out, with Gnome's +2 Con, -2 Str factored in. Both extra ability points put into Constitution is what I have in mind. I don't have a good list of up to date and accurate on Paladin spells and feats, or anything that's skill-related, so I'll need a list of some sort (only material I have D20-related are Bioware game manuals and a SW D20 Alien Anthology).
