What do you think about "Nemesis?"

Post by bozman »

I have been looking at some previews for this movie and I think it actually looks pretty good. The Remans seem interesting (so far) and I like how this movie seems like it is going to a lot action. As long as the people that did Voyager have nothing to do with this movie, it might have a chance.

What do you people think? Are you going to see it when it comes out?

I refuse to pass judgement until I actually see the movie. Previews can be very misleading--with many excellent previews coming out of lousy films, but similarly terrific movies emerging after very weak previews. I at least want to hear what some of the critics say.

From everything I've seen it's going to be really bad. Poor plot, worse execution, and a horrible send off for TNG.

I'll probably see it eventually. But from the way that ST hasn't been exactly stellar lately, I probably won't see it when it first comes out.

So is this the last ST movie, or just the last one with TNG? If it's just the last TNG movie, what will the other ones be about?

I might go see it if I'm bord some night, and have nothing better to do.

I think that it's the last TNG movie. I might go see the movie if you guys seem to like it.

from what the previews show it seems to lean toward action with a healthy dose of suspense.... i dunno, i just hope Bragga and Bunghole get retired with the TNG cast. It really pisses me off what has happened to trek....I was a rabid fan of DS9 ..the maqius plot arc, the tensions with the kilngons building up to the Dominion war....there was some good writing there for a while. I really hope they used the writers from DS9 instead of that steaming pile of shite voyager.....and speaking of voyager, i get a sinking feeling that the next series of movies will revolve around kate mulgew's obnoxious ass....

I'll see it when it comes out on video. Come to think of it, don't think I've ever seen a ST movie in a theater...

Maybe I'm missing something, but... Berman and Braga didn't write Nemesis as far as I can tell:

Writing credits from http://us.imdb.com/Credits?0253754:

John Logan (I) (story) &
Rick Berman (story) &
Brent Spiner (story)

John Logan (I) (screenplay)

So Berman worked on the story, but didn't write the screenplay. John Logan wrote the screenplay. Logan also did the screenplays to Gladiator and The Time Machine. Take that for what you will... but Nemesis does not appear to be a B&B production.

It has promise as a mindless action flick, but not as some deep story, or as a clash of wills like WOK was. I'll probably see it on video.

If its half as bad as the script leaked on the net, it will suck, but not too bad. Shouldn't be worse than ST:I, dear god I hope, I have to see it at the theatre.

It depends on how much of an effect Berman had on the story. Even good writing cannot save a plot that is simply horrendous.

I've decided to put my warsieness on hold for a day and join my friends (specifically, an almost-hardcore trekkie and a few non-sci-fi-fans) for a wild day of all four TNG movies. Three of which will be on video, of course.
I'll wait till I see it to think about it.

Where I live they showed Generations in theathers.
Apparently it didn't do well because they DIDN'T show First Contact nor Insurrection (can't say I blame them). I only saw them on cable years later.
Chances are Nemesis is going the same road.
