For years, Star Wars fans have squared off against Star Trek fans over which space fantasy is the better choice. As a result, both franchises have been embroiled in a continuing battle for merchandise sales, publicity and box office receipts. The science-fiction genre has never seen anything like it and, as these fictional universes continue to expand, the competition seems to be never ending. Star Wars Vs Star Trek compares the space opera worlds of George Lucas and Gene Roddenberry for a one of a kind intergalactic documentary.

Saw this years ago, its not actually what you think. its merely just talking about the two, it does not actually have anything like "Oh but if the Empire invaded the Federation" or anything, its just a narrative about the two subjects.

So it's actually a two for one kind of thing, a Wars doc and a Trek doc all in one movie.
It would have been interesting if they took a look at the actual versus community and also got the perspectives of the creators on the matter.

Yeah, I would have thought as much.

I suggested a REAL Sw vs ST DVD years ago, but no one took me up on it.

I think ultimately any kind of actual duel of Star Wars and Star Trek in a cinematic production would damage both brands. Since the Federation would be so massively crushed by the Empire (or even the Rebel Alliance, which itself could easily stomp out the entire Federation) based on the technology in Star Wars as we can perceive it, I imagine the SW component would be toned down to give more balance and excitement to the storyline, and to avoid totally destroying enthusiasm among Trekkies for that franchise. This would basically result in a degradation of both brands.
I think when it comes to SW vs ST, Darth Wong's fanfic will have to suffice.

A true documentory wouldn't need to argue the case simply show it as the phenomenon it is. Interveiws might include people like Curtis Saxton, George Lucas, people equally respected from the Trek franchise and of course those who represent us on both sides of the debate. You couldn't do it any other way, one of the topics all could be interveiwed on is how much is canon and how much do the fans "own" or have "invested" in each franchise.
You have to let the veiwer understand the debate and the positions before they can make up their minds as to which side they support.
