Master Chief vs Samas Aran

Post by Stormbringer »

They're both dropped on Endor, sans Imperials, and told to hunt each other down. Both knows ALL about the other.

So who wins in a hand's down fight to the death?

I think so, yeah.

Samus wins because she can fly, though Master CHief is so tough he gives her a good run for her money before biting the dust.

Samus outflanks Master CHief and unloads her weaponry into him. But you're right. I did make it sound like the only thing and that was wrong.

I forgot to mention Samus has better arms and armor as well...

Samas takes it, although he'll put up quite a fight.

Only if he's stupid enough to let her close before opening fire. And he's smart enough to keep an eye out. Plus he's got a hell of a lot of sensor in his suit.

She's got good sutff, but high end HALO stuff is comperable.

Master Chief, sniper rifle, through the faceplate in Samus's helmet.

Cortana: "What if you miss?"
Master Chief: "I won't."

I wonder how the impact of a bullet on her faceplate would compare to the pressure of the water of Maridia against her faceplate...

Considering that Samus' power suit is sheilded, I doubt called shots will not matter until they are worn down.

Well, if we go with SNES-era Samus, from Super Metroid, she can just go into a permanent spin-jump/screw-attack combination (due to how two of her upgrades were programmed, you could combine an attack that made her 1)invincible to everything except bosses while jumping and 2)fatal on contact to all enemies except bosses with an upgrade that allowed her to "fly" by jumping again before she hit the ground from her last jump) which would be pretty hard to beat. Or she could just do bombing runs on him, flying over and dropping on him (another fun Super Metroid trick, and part of what made her so badass in Super Smash Bros. on the N-64).

Given the comparable shields?!

Let's just take the variables on boths sides...she has rockets that can do low kiloton damage...can obviously take that level of damage multiple time(See Fusion)...somehow even with a Rocket Laucher Master Chief is hard pressed.

I give this to Samas more because she can outlast him in terms of firepower(her gun never runs out...his does)

Depends on the speed of the bullet, the mass of the bullet, the type of bullet being fired. Also depends on what the pressure of water of Maridia is. Unless I'm grossly mistaken, a high-velocity, high density armor piercing round will produce more pressure at the point of impact than, say, being under a few dozen meters of water.

In any event, I simply posted that to use a quote from the Halo 2 trailer. It was more in fun than as a serious point of argument, but I suppose we could do some figuring from there. :)

Just out of curiousity, where did you get the KT-range damage for the rockets? I've just not seen the power range for them previously, so please forgive my ignorance.

Lets make this interesting and change it from a debate about who has the better technology to a debate about who is actually the better soldier. Im my opinion Master Cheif is a much better soldier then Samus Arran is. Im basing this on the fact that MC dealt with hundreds of technologically equal/superior foes on Halo while Arran always seemed to have the tech advantages in her Metroid battles.

As a solider he maybe better...but honestly a great soldier and a shotgun vs a okay solider and a death ray in super armor...

The only problem is both show no real consistency. I mean neither can just blow up random rock, but every time Samus is allowed she can with one rocket shot, and not persay the Super one's either. So honestly I have no perfect piece of proof...so I cannot honestly say but as I said everytime she is allowed to by the programmers...she can do it with one rocket.

Plus her weaponry is far more vast and vaired...MC is cool and all but he is severly outgunned.

I mean to say a couple gunshot will penetrate her armor is nearly as outlandish as me saying all Samus has to do is fire one One Freeze beam and MC is dead meat.

I mean if you look at both systems she has gone against things of near opr higher nature...and her suit at peak surviablity shows more resilence than MC power shield/body armor.

Though if MC gets a tank...that's different

Well, Samus by definition isn't a soldier, is she? She's a bounty hunter. Not exactly a military role, is it? She's not infantry. It never did make sense why they sent 1 bounty hunter to Zebes, as opposed to anything else (do most people even know what a bounty hunter is? That word gets thrown around more than "paladin"!).

Point being, Samus has no military training, which means she can't very well be a good soldier. A soldier, despite what Kurt Russell movies may tell us, has to be able to work and interact well with... other soldiers. Presumably "Master Chief" (I wish he had a name, not just an abbreviated rank) can. Actually, since he's a Master Chief (I'm assuming that's based on "Master Chief Petty Officer", E-9 in the U.S. Navy), he definitely can, and can command small groups as well. Not something I'm thinking Samus Aran can do.

Between that though of whom is a better soldier...easily MC.

Samus in Fusion has actualy said she hates basically the whole army mentality, and has certainly a more free loving, no order personality...while MC in books has been shown to lead groups of his type with deadly effectiveness.

The Master Chief can indeed work with other soldiers. There are numerous (lemming) Marines that you're assigned to work with in various missions. They're also included in the book Fall of Reach.

In short the Master Chief is a dedicated soldier and Samas Aran is just a hired gun.

Well, you don't really need kiloton range weaponry to blow up a random rock. Don't forget, kiloton range weaponry is what was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You don't need that to blow up a chunk of rock that's 2 cubic meters.
Plus her weaponry is far more vast and vaired...MC is cool and all but he is severly outgunned.
Varied? I dunno about that. She's limited to the various beams, missiles, and bombs that she can fit into her suit. Master Chief can pick up and use any old thing he sees laying around. Assault rifles, plasma rifles, sniper rifles, so on and so forth.
I mean to say a couple gunshot will penetrate her armor is nearly as outlandish as me saying all Samus has to do is fire one One Freeze beam and MC is dead meat.
Well, I wasn't being entirely serious with the suggestion of one shot killing Samus, it was more for comic effect than anything else. ;)

True the Kiloton effect was probably a bit large...but as I said I have no idea...ooops :)

But as for the two...it more that she can attack without weapons as well(the wholattack...while seemingly pointless does grant her an odd invulnerability, as well as her various others.

And I understand for comic...though with Prime...oi...playing her in First person is outlandsihly nasty...gah

And I still say if weve her that...MC should get a tank...I mean she gets 101 weapons :P
