Insane lag on BF2

Post by Captain tycho »

Lately, I've been getting huge amounts of in BF2 (easily upwards of 600). Before, it was almost always below 100 on most servers. Is there something I can do to find out whats going on? I'm running on a 512K DSL line, if that helps.

Check your ram before going ingame to make sure you don't have a memory leak somewhere.

Run anti-virus to make sure you don't have a phisling program sucking up bandwidth.

Something I've noticed over the last week is that recently I can log onto servers and normally have a good ping, but every once in a while (and usually when it matters) I get horrible lag. Like I'm anti-tank, I aim and fire and lag so that I miss. Or I'm flying a heli and then get hit with a lag spike and suddenly am on my side and heading for a hill. Hell, sometimes I'm just walking along and all of a sudden lag horribly.
I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe. ~Marcus Cole, Babylon 5

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were and ask "why not?" ~John F Kennedy Jr, 1963
