The Cheif showed sympathy even before Boomer bit the bullet with his "lab rat" comment to Dr. Baltar. Another unexpected twist, considering his previous cold shoulder behavior toward Sharon/Galactica-Boomer.Knife wrote:It also makes him some what sympathetic to Cylons since, though he's pissed as hell, he still loved Boomer on some level and had to watch her die in his arms, shot by one of his most loyal troops.
Atlantia and Columbia were mentioned in the pilot actually. Along with the Solaria and Triton. This is the first mention of the Pegasus.MariusRoi wrote:Plus we have full canon names for 4 Battlestars now: Galactica, Atlantia, Pegasus, and Columbia.

Baltar was being coldly factual, and bluntly stated that he didn't get the Chief free, she did... but not telling him how she did it. Obviously Baltar wasn't looking forward to the 'experiments' to come either.Mario1470 wrote:The Cheif showed sympathy even before Boomer bit the bullet with his "lab rat" comment to Dr. Baltar. True. It all leads into the thought of 'demonizing' the enemy and not seeing them as 'human', which I think will become even bigger part of the plot with the new 'baby' angle.Mario1470 wrote:The Cheif showed sympathy even before Boomer bit the bullet with his "lab rat" comment to Dr. Baltar. Acts and situations like this will make some people stand back and re examine that particular train of thought.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

Wow. I'm tempted to say I might have liked this one more than "Fragged".
Doc Coddle continues to rock. Especially when he basically calls Tigh a dumbass.
It's interesting the loyalty Apollo has from his squadron. Considering his actions against Roslin and the fact he never seemed as popular as Starbuck, I always thought he was sort of distant from his pilots. Of course for the Nuggets, he's the only CAG they've ever known.
Edward James Olmos' presence as Adama still shocks me. He acts more like a force of nature than a character. Even when wobbly on his feet and in a bathrobe.
I really didn't see Cally shooting Boomer coming, I'd been spoiled that Galactica Boomer was toast, but at the hands of Cally? I'm just wondering what the reprecusions will be for her now.
On a side note, I see the paranoid "holy fuck, the Chief is a Cylon! Everybody is a Cylon!" deckhand from "Litmus" is back. Here's to hoping if the Cylon's board again he gets a few rounds pumped into him.

Theory of the day: Cally is in love with the Chief, and that's why she shot Sharon.
Also, am I the only one who thinks Roslin is a pompous, stupid bitch? The religious skullfuckery, her willingness to take a pedestal when the price will be civil war among an already tiny human population, her constant attempts to undermine the authority of the only people standing between mankind and a grisly death at the hands of the Cylons... it's pissing me off. I liked her at first, but now I feel she's getting self-righteous and arrogant.

My god, get your head out of your ass. Billy's the only one out of that posse with half a brain in his skull. Roslin is going to spark a fucking civil war over a decision she made based on drug-induced hallucinations and religious texts. Billy is right to move away from her.Mario1470 wrote:Billy, you fracking coward. !

I'm not sure about cally being in love with the chief. She might just look up to him in a father/older brother sort of way. Still, I suppose anything's possible.Thirdfain wrote:snip
And I wholeheartedly agree with you about Roslin. She's taking hallucination inducing drugs when she's supposed to be leading the fraking survivors of humanity, and is ready to start a civil war over a religious prophecy. What's worse is that the Quorem (sp?) of twelve didn't immediatly find her unfit for duty, and elect a new leader, but they actually rallied behind her and this "Prophecy" stuff that she's spewing. It seems like stupidity runs high amongst the colonial leadership.

Tigh needs to face consequences for what he did to the Chief. That was inexcusable.

"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."

Maybe not in public, but the Chief owes Tigh some bruises for sure.

In that context, yes. That was a knee-jerk reaction on my part. Here's a concession, gift wrapped with a bow.Thirdfain wrote:My god, get your head out of your ass. You're not the only one. If I had to choose to be in either Adama's camp, or Rosalyn's, I'd choose Adama's (though I might not choose Tigh's.... it's complicated). This would be even more the case if I was an actual colonial citizen in the show, who knew about Rosalyn spouting on about being the "Chosen Leader" and jeapordizing everything in order to retrieve some religious icon. (as it is, being a viewer I realize that (unfortunately) all the religious stuff is probably going to be proven at least partly right in the end. If it doesn't, I'll love this show even more.) If only Billy and Fundie the Guard hadn't been able to get the kamala to her before Tigh brought the quorum in, the whole damn mess could've been avoided.Thirdfain wrote:Also, am I the only one who thinks Roslin is a pompous, stupid bitch? Is it a crime to try and learn the truth? Is it a sin to search for those things which you fear? My purpose in this world is knowledge, and the dissemination of it. And it is I who is to restore the fruits of my labors to the entire world. Wake up! Don’t be afraid of knowledge! Humans who loose the capacity to think become creatures whose existence has no value. Think, you humans who are split into two worlds! Unless you want the gulf between humans to expand into oblivion, YOU MUST THINK! - Schwarzwald

Very Minor Spoilers:
According to the preview of the next episode, Roslin takes the next step, and broadcasts her religious BS to the entire fleet. Instead of trying to overthrow martial law because Tigh is fraking things up and getting civillians shot, she actually get's on the wireless and spews this "Chosen Leader" bullshit to the fleet

I've been trying to look at this whole story as a modern political allegory, and it's not working. Adama is a no-nonsense SOB, with no patience for religion, and a lack of reverence for Democracy. Laura Roslin believes very strongly in her religion, I'd even call her a fundamentalist, but she's dedicated to the democratic ideal very strongly. It's a strange set of traits for both of them.
Also, as has been previously noted, I think it's pretty obvious that the Colonial populace is very religious- and polytheistic. Meanwhile, the Cylons are fanatical monotheists with an obvious technological edge. Hmmm.
Adama does seem to have respect for the rule of law as evidenced in "Litmus". The thing about Adama is he seems to have zero tolerance for things that cross his worldview and what he sees as threats.Thirdfain wrote:I've been trying to look at this whole story as a modern political allegory, and it's not working. Roslin became a threat to the fleet in his mind when she convinced Starbuck to steal the Raider.
Also, quite frankly, Roslin completely broke the pact she and Adama made in the mini-series. Roslin was indeed the one in charge of the fleet, but military decisions would rest with Adama, as Adama saw her unqualified to make military decisions, and she really was in no position to disagree. Throughout Season 1 they stuck to that pact till "Kobol's Last Gleaming".

Does anyone else see a contradiction with a woman who claims to be a staunch proponent of democracy, yet has no problem letting people bow to her as an uncontested religious icon? These last few episodes she has really rubbed me the wrong way.
Also, we know one person who isn't a Cylon. Adama. We know he has a personal history and a family. We also know that he is unaffected by that radiation that kills Cylons (the last of the miniseries).
I guess the fact that Apollo is his son and Tigh is his buddy from so far back also clears them.
I don't think Rosylin is one either, because she underwent extensive medical testing for her cancer. I doubt they'd taker a chance on that. Unless, of course, the cylons are really dedicated to working with that prophecy.
Crap, I just convinced myself she is a Cylon.

Did anyone else cheer when Adama appeared?
And just the way they set up the scene, with Boomer and the Chief walking through the coridoor to the jeers of the crew, you knew someone was going to shot something... but I was really surprised it was Cally!
Yeah, I do think she is in love with the chief.
When they first introduced Ellen, I thought she was a Cyclon. But its too obviouse, so now I think she is really Human. The human equivalent of Six. She is there to show that humans can be just as manipulative and evil as the Cyclons.

I figure at least one more major charecter and one second stringer are Cylons.
The major I think is either Rosylin or Baltar.
The second stringer.....dunno.
