Can Boobyprise Get More Pathetic?
I happened to tune in on this week's entry on Boobyprise and the brazeness of BragaTrek's™ contempt for the audience continues unabated.
In "Singularly Awful Rehash", we see yet another Starfleet crew experience a stripping-down to their hidden inner selves. Archer becomes obsessed with writing the preface to his father's autobiography. Trippy becomes the Tool Man and boot-licker supreme in trying to rebuild the captain's chair. We learn that Reed is a closet Nazi and that Dr. Phlox just might have excluded "concentration camp doctor" from his resumé. Hoshi Sato becomes the Iron Chef. T'pol, however, remains the same anal-retentive, talentless cipher we've come to know and loathe (since she has no inner personality or outer personality either for that matter), and Porthos (the spy from the Dog Star, Sirius) again proves to be the most intelligent being aboard the Enterprise when he simply curls up in a corner and sleeps away the episode.
We know that Berman Braga (spotted that at TrekWeb and I thought it quite appropros as a name for this two-headed monster) is simply recycling the scripts from every other Trek series to fill out the season for Boobyprise, as was done with V'ger. This one was just a rehash of Deep Sleep Nine's "Dramatis Personae". Instead of technobabble mysterious spores as the cause of the personality changes, this time out its technobable mysterious radiations from a distant black hole. Substitute T'pol for Odo. Substitute Trippy for Sisko. Substitute Reed for Kira. Substitute Phlox for Bashir. Substitute Hoshi for Dax. Substitute Porthos for Quark, who I think also just hid in a closet until everything was over and done with. This has to be the laziest episode of this misbegotten abortion of a series to date.
Oh, and this week's Trek invention: Red Alert. Nice to know now that we finally have the origin for this important and time-honoured aspect of Starfleet service culture; answering a question which has bedeviled historians and philosophers for decades.
Next week, a transporter accident causes Hoshi to slowly disintegrate. Want to bet that this is simply a rewrite of TNG's "The Next Phase"? And which will disintegrate faster —Hoshi, or the plot?

Oh Enterprise can get much worse than this. If Barman and Brega are unable to find something sufficiently stupid to top this (unlikely, as they have shown a tendency to get stupider over time), we could always ask Jack Chick if he'd be interested in writing sci-fi.

They have 7 seasons worth of utter shit to play with. They won't run out.
But if they did, hopefulyl Braga's head would explode, that no-talent monkey-sucking hack.

Read his books. David Brin is a much better writer than B&B.CmdrWilkens wrote:Just think they could always have David Brin writing.

Book or movie? I've never read or seen it, but with very few exceptions sci-fi movies&TV are pure shite. The book is bound to be better than either the movie or anything yet seen on Enterprise.Stormbringer wrote:Behold the Postman and cringe! True it's horrible but you're right, he's not B&B horrible.
Even though I don't agree with its social points, Brin's Earth was pretty good, too. Crertainly orders of magnitude better than the schlock that Bozo and Bitbrain puke out on a weekly basis.

No its more like extrapolating a trend outwards, we have a rather hefty chunk of data indicating a continual decline so, theoretically, it should contineu to decline. So long as they keep going they'll keep going lowerEnder wrote:Isn't that the "No Limits" fallacy? :D:Ddata_link wrote:Oh Enterprise can get much worse than this.
