Predator shoulder cannon threat to Terminator?

Is the shoulder fired plasma cannon of a predator a threat to a terminator? I mean at first you'd say yes, it would just melt the t-800, but if you watch T2, it takes exacty 15 seconds, from the point the t-800's head goes into the lava, to the point where it shows system shut down, meaning the processor was melted, but,
would this happen if the t-800's powercell was destoryed by the heat?
So if we go by that, it takes 26 seconds, as soon as the t-800 went into the molten steel it didn't melt, it still had power to gives the thumbs up, so your saying, omega get to the point, would the plasma cannon be able to heat the t-800's metal quickly enough to burn through it, in the short time that its in contact with it?
