Don't let that bother you. Just refer them to their own "canon" policy and say it's inadmissible evidence (of course, IIRC, the novel doesn't explicitly say which weapons caused the "forest fires"). I'd say that this is merely a desperate tactic (just like declaring old drafts "canon").

I also have to remind them that "Vapourising a Small Town" could well mean turning everything in a surrounding radius of that small town into molten rock.
