Hell ya tharkun...mines like that...formerly some ST and SW, with random stuff thrown in (but they did have all the foundations!) But they're pumping it now...only problem: SF is mixed in with general fiction...and most of it is hardback...

'Mercedes Lackey'

That's a bizarre name if I ever heard one.

Fairfax County's library system is decent. The problem is that most of the books are placed at a few large libraries, so I have to reserve the books 3 days beforehand before I pick them up. They have to transport the books from one library to another just for me :P

My local library is pretty good, if i want a book i can order it, they Belfast Education and Library Board would even go to the trouble of buying the book if they don't have it in stock. My only problem is the Library manager is a troll, and a damn hot one too, i wanna hump her but i know she's slightly retarded.

One of the public libraries in Toronto has a dedicated Science Fiction collection that takes up an entire floor. If it's sci-fi, they probably have it, but it's kind of a reference collection thing where the books are in the back room and you have to request them from the staff. They also snap up every new release as soon as they come out, so I could go there and read Destiny's Way or War of Honor right now if I wanted to.

Local library system (Columbus Metropolitan Libraries, in Ohio) is pretty decent actually. Their sci-fi/fantasy collection is large enough that even most branches will actually set aside a separate section both for SW and for ST novels. Heck, in my local branch, the sci-fi/fantasy novels take up 1 full stack (both sides).

The only problem I've noticed with any library system, though, is finding older sci-fi books. That's the problem with library systems, though: with space at a premium, and funding always subject to the whim of "library friends" and levy issues, they can't afford to keep books on hand that get checked out once in a blue moon, or that have been read so many times that they need some major repair work on the covers. So, a lot of the older sci-fi books that I grew up reading have long since vanished from the shelves -- and it's hard to find good book stores that carry even used copies of the older stuff.

Mine was the opposite. They had about a stack, but most of it was old stuff. They didn't really get in anything new. And they didn't have many SW books nor ST books for that matter.
