Hah, they asked this on today's Newsround, that's the BBC's "kids news" program, and a 12 year old kid wrote in to say "Evolution is scientific because it's testable, you can't test anything of Intelligent Design! It shouldn't be taught in science," how cool is that? :D

More to the point, it should be asked why American kids aren't capable of that level of logical thought. But then the ones responsible for making such an inquiry are also the ones pushing nonsense like Intelligent Design. That is if they're not simply busy skimming whatever they can get off the school budgets, like our board does here in New Orleans.

Teach something that's 100% un-scientific in science classes?

NO. Not until the hypocrites crusade equally strongly to teach the theory that Peregrine the Hellbird got drunk and accidentally created the universe 3 days ago.

I'm surprised nobody has espoused the glory of the Great Green Arkleseizure, who sneezed out the universe and all life in it, and the coming of the Great White Hanky to purge the sinners.

Obviously a no vote from me. Topics have their place in subjects. Teaching Intelligent Design in a biology class is like teaching Shakespeare in a math class.

I voted "no", and I really don't think I have to explain myself to the likes of you.
73% of all statistics are made up, including this one.

I accidentally voted yes. I most definitely meant no, but in a moment of being spaced out I clicked the yes and submit.

Not that I'm too surprised, but 161 to 4 seems a total one sided victory (for common sense). Wheeeeeeee.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Silly board. Two option poll, and one is 97% and the other is 2%. Did they program the "margin of error" into phpBB? :)

If you're going to teach intelligent design in the classroom, that sounds like a good topic for literature class, but I would never do that another person. I have actually read the part of the bible where it talks about God's intelligent design of the world, and it was painful. I put it down at the end of Genesis and never opened it again. I was at least somewhat interested in the books talking about the big bang and all the associated happy horse shit.

Teach science in science class.

Definitely no.

I think that, since evolution is a theory of science, it should be taught in the classrooms of science. Similarly, since creationism and intelligent design are theories of faith they should be taught in the classrooms of faith, that is, the churches or religious classes in private schools.

Any mention of creationism or intelligent design in any science class, public especially, should be solely so that people understand a debate exists, and not taught as the scientific equal to evolution.

Might I ask how many unaccounted-for yays there have been? Make no mistake: we will find you, closet fundies.

If for clarification, three yays were accounted for, the first was done near the start of the poll and has yet to have anyone claim it.

Obviously, not IRTTOP.

And you need to move to Florida, obviously

I voted no, for obvious reasons. No need for this stupid shit in the classrooms, unless used as an example of stupid shit.

Intelligent Design is useless and foolish.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
