All 3D Links use their left hand for the sword. The 2D ones are ambidextrous due to sprite flippping, but I think they''re supposed to be left handed.
Abut the delay... I'm a little disappointed, but I trust they had a good reason to do so. Besides the coming autumn looks like it might be somewhat expensive anyway...

The 2D sprite Links were only right-handed when facing East, due to sprite flipping as you said. They were left-handed for every other direction, and pretty much any of the old Nintendo literature that brought up the subject stated Link was left handed (and for ALttP, came up with a goofy explenation that Hyrulians would switch swords to their right when facing East so their shield faces North, due to a superstition concerning warding away evil spirits from Death Mountain).
Otherwise, Link has always been regarded as left-handed.

Maybe Nintendo wanted to focus more on the DS this holiday season. With wi-fi, and a crap load of good games coming out, they may have wanted to focus on staying ahead of the PSP, and not taking any attention away from the DS.
If they are going to delay it to make it even better, they might as well have it as a Rev. launch title, imo.

To quote Perrin Kaplan:
IMHO it got delayed because Nintendo is working on two Zelda games at once. They already said they're making a Revolution Zelda."In effect, because of the backward compatibility built into Revolution, every GameCube game also will be a Revolution title," she said. "But we feel a commitment to the GameCube owners who've been patiently awaiting this new Zelda title, and don't want to force them to wait and buy a brand new system in order to play the game."

When in the Seattle science center there was free playtesting for various upcoming games, they placed me on WWF:War 2, but I slipped one booth to the side (near the end) and played Zelda for 8 blessed minutes.Ace Pace wrote:Wait.the .303 bookworm wrote: Even more so, since I playtested it yesterday and it is a joy to play. EVERYONE HOLD THE PRESS.
Explain yourself.
The graphics are great, the gameplay as intuitive as ever, and the playtesting free.

I realize that, but there can be more than one Zelda game for a system, and I'm pretty sure that Zelda isn't going to be a launch title. It might not be a bad idea for Nintendo to push back Zelda to Revolution and consider the following situation:Praxis wrote:mplsjocc wrote:If they are going to delay it to make it even better, they might as well have it as a Rev. launch title, imo.

Mario and Super Smash Bros: Melee ONLINE as launch titles. Then if they beef up Twilight princess for revolution, release it as launch title. If they DON"T beef it up for revolution, release it as launch title, but pack it in with the revolution system.
Chances are with ps3 and 360 out, twilight princess will still sell well, but it wont push systems. Sooooo.... think about it: revolution with a launch powerhouse lineup with mario and zelda titles and super smash bros ONLINE.
Yeah, but when will that be out? I am pretty sure it wouldn't be until 2007.
Shifting Zelda over to the Revolution is the most logical path to take, thus near-guarenteeing that it will not be the route Nintendo takes. Seriously, it's a catch 22 for Nintendo: If they can it for Gamecube and move it over to revolution, they piss off alot of their supporters who stuck by them for the promise of a new Zelda title. If they please those Gamecube fans, they make less money and weaken the potential strength of their NEXT console launch. I say it's better to look to the future and concentrate on making the Revolution as appealing as possible.

Making TP for the Revolution would only mean delaying it for something like almost to more than a year.
It would also mean that they would have to do a near-total overhaul, since it would be for a next-generation system rather than a current one.
Frankly, I think the situation is damn fine the way it is.

Provided they finish it up by March, there's no reason to delay it even further until the Revolution launches. That'd be stupid and Nintendo would be simply biting off its own arm if they did that. The outrage from fans would probably be enough to put a nice dent in Nintendo's pockets, considering that this was promised to be set on the GameCube.mplsjocc wrote:If they are already delaying it until March, they might as well delay it until the Rev launch, which would be just a couple months after.

Holy shit... There's already a Rev Zelda in the works? That's good news.Praxis wrote:IMHO it got delayed because Nintendo is working on two Zelda games at once. They already said they're making a Revolution Zelda.
EDIT: Fixed quote tag. Grr...

Why? The Rev is supposed to be backwards compatible with Gamecube games. It should play perfectly fine on the Rev without having to be overhauled.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Making TP for the Revolution would only mean delaying it for something like almost to more than a year.

I think Spanky was meaning that TP has been made as a GC game with current-gen quality graphics, sound, etc. It will work on the Revolution but it will also work on the Gamecube and there isn't any point delaying it from March to the Rev's launch.
And you can't possibly release a Gamecube-quality game as one of the centrepieces of a next-gen console launch! The vast majority of the gaming public who are concerned with the appearance of the game would judge the capability of the Revolution on that basis and not buy one.
