As per conversation with Thirdfain, New Eden is now "somewhere in the rim."

Blue Pointe is in the Southwest, between the Sabai, the ACIN, and Sparata.

I'm seriously considering getting back into this game.

Would anyone object if I did?

Ah, hehe... Yeah. Just noticed it as the page was rendering when reading this response. Whoops, my bad.

Another question though, which is likely to be just as dumb; what's all the brown shit?

Nothing dumb about it. Let me explain.

This STGOD is spawned form STGOD2, which is spawned of course from the ancient ASVS STGOD. That STGOD was far crazier than the SDnet STGODs, and took place in a far-future Star Wars-ish galaxy. Nations were massive and incredibly powerful- as in, superweapon arsenals that could annihilate a million stars in a matte of minnutes.

Our STGOD is set about 350 years after this (Commonwealth dates are reckoned AF, "After Founding", which was about a century after this huge war.)

The brown regions are those unrecovered from the collapse. Mass WMD use has made all the old maps of the regions useless, so hyperlanes may lead into the hearts of black holes or the scattered remnants of dead stars. The brown regions are full of ancient unexploded munitions, crypt-worlds inhabited by the horifically mutated cannibal descendents of those affected by dreadful bioweapons, and semi-inert robotic fortresses whose ancient weapons make the most modern superdreadnought look like a helpless baby, which would spell the doom of any poor ship which would trip their slowly-rusting aggression circuits.

Amongst the mess are millions of colonies, remnants, and isolated nations making their way in the shattered wreckage of dead empires. Thing of the brown sections of the wild west- as dangerous as they are full of promise. As a general rule, travel through brown regions takes far longer than travel through "clear" regions, which didn't see windespread warfare and arre generally far safer. Hyperlanes represent heavily used paths through the mess, and the regions around them are far more heavily populated. Essentially, hyperlanes are links to the remnant Galactic economy.

Of course, the ERTC's Astrogation Bureau makes a great deal of money charting hyperlanes, as do similar orgnizations amongst the "civilized" nations.

Of course, he's only got various bits and pieces of information to go on. He doesn't know what you're really up to anymore then he knows what I'm really up to, or anymore then the Hub or the mystery benefactors know each other's plans.

Which really reminds me I should stop letting you keep on my actions but I need Rogue 9 to get online, or I will take up a bunch of board B&W PMing, when that happens, I'll do something nice. :)

I am wondering what is going on as well(Both as my in game empire intercepting communications and as a person) the only thing I could come up with is that there is some kind of override control for the defence systems so they can be turned ageist the planet and held hostage as it were.

But since no one is likely to come knocking at the Joven Consensus door I am not paying too much attention (I will probably regret that later).

Sounds like fun. Also is there a current date which the game is in now I mean like year 354 ATGW(354 years after the great war or something)?

Sorry about the lack of posting but I have been preoccupied as of late. I am still following the game and will try to get back in the habit of posting more frequently in the near future. :)

I'm having major Internet troubles at the dorm at the moment. Specifically, everything's set up correctly, I have a connection, but I can't get at any Web pages. At all. The university IT department has no idea what the hell is going on, not that that's unusual or anything. I'll try to post as I can from labs.

Damn, this is going to hurt. I'd rather kill the Commies myself, but as long as you don't drag the ERTC into this, it's not my say.
