And upload caps suck something bad.
Yeah, Verizon's network really needs some upgrading... The conditions have improved, but a few months back I was getting like 30% packet loss at peak hours. Once I did a traceroute of a site in New York (I'm in SoCal), and my packets got routed from the West Coast to the East Coast and back to the West Coast, then to the East Coast then England then East Coast and West Coast and finally to New York.

Moral of the story is avoid Verizon if at all possible.

That's funny, I get great service from Verizon here in Oregon. (If only they were running FIOS out to my town... *sigh*)

3Mbit down, 768Kbit up, $30/month. I think there's a 7M plan for like $70/month, but I'm not sure of the price.

No caps whatsoever... or, if there are any (which a Verizon employee who posted over at the SA forums vehemently denied), they're exceedingly huge; I uploaded over 72 gigabytes in the month of May, and downloaded over 65 that same month. I've downloaded over 220 GB over the course of 2005.

I've seen the line maxed out before, and speed tests usually haven't been accurate in measuring my connection, so I won't bother jumping through that hoop.

Bandwidth is testing low, I regularly see 3+Mbit sustained downloads.

2Mbit down, quarter of that up(can't remember but its 8KB/S)

Max real speed I've seen is on a dedicated gamespot server, 200kB/s.

Yes, this is a shitty connection.

Sigh... Business cable w/ no caps and no server restrictions costs 85$/month on a one year contract for 1.5 down, 384 up, w/ one year contract - I'll just get it if my cable company bitches, but otherwise eh- for some reason I don't think they strictly enforce bandwidth usage. Slower download speeds aren't an issue since my experience is the servers can't upload that fast.
