Replacing headphone cushions - advice?

Post by Uraniun235 »

The cushions on my Sony MDR-V6 headphones are starting to deteriorate (this is, I've read, a common defect with them) and I'd like to replace them. But I'm not sure how to get the old cushions off or how I'd get new ones on, and I don't want to go tearing at it without knowing what I'm supposed to be doing.

Does anyone have any experience with this that would be willing to give me some pointers on what not to do, what to do, and how to go about it?

People have often replaced V6 pads with those for the Beyerdynamic DT250; you can probably order them direct as well.

I have the Beyerdynamic DT250s bookmarked, actually.

While I appreciate the suggestions, I wasn't asking what pads I should get as replacements, I was asking how to actually go about pulling them off and putting them back on. Do I just rip the originals off and slip the new ones on over the phones? Do I need to pull the phones apart somehow? I don't want to destroy a new set of pads because I didn't know what I was doing.
