I don't get it, I'm 5'8 and 215lbs and I'm ashamed of my excess weight. So much so that I'm participating in the SDN weight watchers thread. The fact that a person could actually be happy that their obese blows my mind, don't these NAAFA clowns understand that their going to have a heartattack and fucking croak before their 50?
Denial? Maybe they refuse to accept the fact that they are mortal, by plugging their ears...
There are times when people need a verbal kick in the ass. It's a shame people don't seem to realise this nowadays.

Lady, you're fat. Accept it, and all the health risks. If you don't want to be in constant fear of a heart attack, and pant climbing the stairs , CHANGE IT. Don't give me this "It's hereditary bullshit". The fact that you gain weight even more easily from fries and burgers tells you that should lay off them. You may not be able to reach the ideal as easily as others, but you can do a helluva lot better.

These PC wackos are almost as screwed up as Christian fundamentalists.
You sound like you need to sit down and realize that Big is Beautiful.
Seriously, though, these people are insane. You go to a psychiatrist or a counselor for advice on how to feel better about yourself. A doctor is there to give you health advice, and if my doctor told me tomorrow that I had cancer I wouldn't be pissed (at him, anyway), I'd be fucking glad he was there to tell me the bad news and to help me start a treatment plan. Don't we have laws to protect doctors against bullshit like this?

I'm overweight (read obese) and I enjoy having doctors give me advice on how to change this, sometimes the advice helps and works, sometimes it doesn't, but I'm not going to bawl them out because they said: "you're fat.".

I cannot help but think of the NAAFA's polar opposite, the infamous and inexplicably bizarre Pro-Anorexia movement.
I sometimes wonder if it is possible that those two, seemingly incompatible movements will one day join forces? Or do the NAAFA folks and the militant anorexics have frequent verbal clashes with each other? The latter is practically a given, but I never recall hearing about that happening, nor have I checked the internet to see...

"No, actually I would HATE to have a cookie, you vapid waste of inedible flesh!"

Somewhat, but that protection is more akin to it requires to show a certain amount of evidecne that he had no malicious bearing.
What is ridiculous is that the cancer analogy does fit in that regard. If I went in and the doctor comes back to me and gives such advice because I will DIE, somehow I don't think I'll go "You insulted me!". Honestly these people delude themselves into thinking it's okay because people in general tip toe around the issue.
