Would you care to support this assertation with some sort of documentation? It seems to me that we have such a high population due to the fact that things are going well. Perhaps you can shed some light on the subject; if so, please do.

If countries were starving for room, Australia would have been invaded by now. Cities can keep growing and just get crowded. Nobody is running out of space except Japan, and they have shitty (if not negative) population growth.

I had figured everyone knew a bit about exponential growth of the global population.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/4297169.stm

That article is about how the world population is expected to raise to around 9 billion by 2050.

Isn't it common knowledge that the world containts roughly 6.5 billion people? Of course, I've also read that due to industrialization and further societal stressed for women to be educated, the number may actually start to fall around 2048, but I have no source for this.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

If I could find my bloody Atlas, I could tell you for sure if it got in the way of a major current. Right now, probably it would put up some heavy interference in the North Pacific current, with some interesting side effects, both on the world weather and the climate of the continent.

Yes, it is common knowledge. What isn't "common knowlege" is that these countries are running out of space. Cities are getting larger, but nobody is looking to mass emigration to solve those problems.

It's pretty obvious why, too. Mass emigration- especially to a completely unsettled continent, would be bloody expensive. It isn't enough to just ship people out there on boats; without food supplies or equipment, they would probably starve to death.

Incidently, I'm trying to imagine what sort of climate this mini-continent would have. It might be in the middle of a cold sea current, which would probably cut back on its rainfall.

I was talking about for future purposes, not immediate ones. Sorry if I made that unclear.
