Main site updates

Post by Darth Wong »

I'm starting to add some stuff again. I plan to add the two new fanfic chapters in the Fanfic forum, as well as the following pages:

http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Tech/Brahms
http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Ess ... nutes.html

Note that they're still works in progress, and need proof-reading, formatting, etc. One of them incorporates contributions from this forum. Once I get these up, I hope to get some work done on that canon database.

Believe it or not, the renovations I mentioned a few months ago have just concluded now (there was a break in the middle, but then it started up again). It took a lot longer than I thought it would. So hopefully, there will be more time.

I really like your tables in the 5 Minute Comparison page. It's like DarkStar made intelligent, coherent, and reasonable.

I just cleaned up the formatting a bit. Any suggestions before I go "live" with these? I'm thinking the Leah Brahms one might go in the "Technology" page, while the "Star Wars vs Star Trek in Five Minutes" one might go in Essays.

PS. Does anyone have a good mugshot of Leah Brahms for the first page, or a picture of the Federation flag with a knife stuck through it and blood running down from the wound for the second?

You can find some pics of Brahms here. None are full on face shots, so making a mug shot would be hard.

Skimmed through both sections, and they appear to be rather useful at first glance. Especially enjoyed the comparisons between SW & ST stuff on the second page, and I can foresee using it in future debates (can already foresee the "Wong doesn't know everything -- use your own calcs!" flag being thrown by rabid Trekkies)...

Slight point here. While the GCS warp core appears to be the most patheticly designed reactor system in the history of Starfleet, it may be that the later flights of GCS's have far more stable warp systems. I mean the GCS in Tears Of The Prophets took hits to the gut form OWP's that I am positive would have blown the E-D or one of its sister ships sky high faster then a redshift in targeting range, but it just kept on going and firing back.

The Defiant class (probably cause it was designed for battle) has a warp core that IIRC has never breached or even threatened to. Even when the Defiant and her sister ship the Valient were blown into little peices, the warp core never breached or threatened to. Heck, even Voyagers core is more stable then the POS on the E-D.

Just a nitpick to perfect the Brahms page, President Inyo's term ended prior to "Extreme Measures" (DS9), in which he was referred to as the former President.

Can I just say that I love the 'debate in five minutes' page? Cold hard numbers, aren't they beautiful? Oh and bye the bye, I found the GK stuff you told me about, I guess I just repressed it along with the Gothmog 'debate'! :)

Some misinformed individual posted a ISD2 vs. GCS thread on Spacebattles. When I said, "The ISD wins," someone challenged me to back up my claim. I happily posted a link to your new page.
