Will we go back to the PT?

Post by IRG CommandoJoe »

Every time a PT movie was released, all of the merchandise suddenly became based on that. Then after the movie was released, it all shifted back to the OT until the next PT movie was released. I'm just wondering, now that Episode III is over with, will the merchandising eventually return to the PT? Like making new Episode I, II, and III action figures, games, comics, books, etc.? Has this already happened and I just didn't notice it?

One of the new Star Wars television series will be set in the Clone Wars, which probably means that there will be another deluge of PT books and most definitely toys.

ONE of the new TV shows? There's more than one planned? Will Kevin Smith be in charge of them all?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Yes featuring the Preggers Padme Action Figure with karate chop and stretch action stomach. Note: Karate chop action figure will no longer function as with the rest of the doll after 9 months. Baby Luke and Leia sold seperately. Not to be sold as a learning guide. :D

There's two: a live-action series set between III and IV, and an animated series set during the Clone Wars.
Will Kevin Smith be in charge of them all?
Hopefully he won't be in charge of either of them. But the actual chance of his involvement is pretty much completely non-existant.

I´m looking forward to both of them, the CW one will have many battles and be in 3D (I think it was described as a "3D anime", or something, with Asian artists being sought out for the new Lucas Animation department in Singapore).

It will have most of the main characters and lots of battles. (Please have AT-XTs, AT-PTs and TX-130 fighter tanks, oh please oh please oh please!!!!11) :P

The post-ROTS, pre-ANH series will not focus on any main characters from the movies, but some movie-characters will be present. Mostly non-movie related, though. I can imagine it will contain less battles, but if there are any, they will most likely be planned out in advance, so we don´t get low production values. (Lucas wanted to see how low they could get the budget for each individual episode, but that doesn´t mean it will be bad. Hell, ANH is already a good example of getting the most out of little!)

Well for the record, ANH's $12M budget would be about $40M in today's money.

Hmm, and I recall GL in a recent interview saying.. hang on, I´ll get the quote from MF.com:
For the live-action series, he said, "we're going do something that would normally cost ($20 million-$30 million) and try to do it for $1 million," citing The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles as one show where he was able to stretch his production budget.

He said he'll shoot the series on a Sony digital camera system that anyone can buy at an electronics store.
Furthermore, in a recent interview with Matt Wood (GG):
GL is impressed with the tech that's allready out there, He's talking of using a HI-DEF consumer camera (under $5,000) for the future 'SW' stuff
I guess even new SW-stuff might go under the "experimental film"-umbrella, now. Hey, good for them if they can make it work. :D

Are you sure Spanky? I've read a couple of interviews... or maybe it was something on his site, where he dropped hints that this may be true.

I'd like Kevin Smith to be involved in some way just for the simple fact that it would completely contradict what SS has written as faux Lucas.

Well if you consider the Jedi purge to be in the PT not the OT, well then wer have a couple years with books and comics in that department

i dont know what Kevin Smith can put in for Star Wars? he was the host of the first fan film awards, he was good in that (how come they didnt telivise the next 3 fan film awards?) but besides bringing a group of people into the Star Wars relm, Kevin Smith just dosent seem to be the Star Wars story man

Because we all know how dedicated Scifi channel is to the shows it puts on.

But yes, I think it would be interesting to see what Kevin Smith would do if given the chance, if for only a few episodes of a series.
