Australiam scientists have created mice which can regenerate absolutely any tissue excpet for the tissues of the brain.
Heart, lungs, entire limbs, you name it.
This is the first time this has been seen in mammals. The potential implications are positively mammoth. I thought this warranted attention.

Damn, this is amazing, however now I feel like asking: "how long until I can do an Alucard or have a pet Tarrasque "
Photography Genius is always allowed some leeway, once the hammer has been pried from its hands and the blood has been cleaned up.
To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
If only it was our science. The article on the Australian's website states it was US researchers.
What I want to know is what impacts regeneration might have on one's health. Are you going to lose a few days/months/years every time your cells have to divide and divide to rebuild that body part you've gone and lost, or are you just going to have a huge requirement for food during the healing process.
How fast is this regeneration anyway? I'd imagine regrowing bones would be long and painful.
The article implies that it is a mutation naturally occuring, if extremely rare, within mice - could it have been a similar thing spreading to the rest of the species through natural selection which has given some reptiles the ability to regenerate lost tails?
"Hi there, would you like to have a cookie?"
"No, actually I would HATE to have a cookie, you vapid waste of inedible flesh!"
Wow.
Natural science is such a wonderful thing, Social scientists can't get this heady, "w00t! science is cool!" feeling. You can take your latent social pressures I'll be over here building space elevators, discovering fusion and making future humans immortal.
WE, however, do meddle in the affairs of others.

Mr Golgotha, Ms Scheck, we're running low on skin. I suggest you harvest another lesbian!
Very nice, wonder how long before this sort of thing can be replicated in larger mammals, it would be very helpful to "grow" extra oragans and such for people.
Techincally, we already DO regenerate everything in the body except brain cells do we not?
You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

Let's test your theory, remove your lungs, and we'll see if they regenterate
LOL! Well yes....I was of course referring to the natural, albeit 'slow' method of cellular regeneration.
