Vader Masked?

OK it seem to me apart from end duel of ROTS and the death in ROTJ, Dath Vader seem to carry/wear a mask of some sort or is shown in brief flashes only.

Has anybody else had this impression?

I think you mean 'wear' a mask, not 'carry' one...

And you would be largely correct. For the most part, unmasked, he would be in hyperbaric chambers; any surgical procedures would, of necessity, be in those chambers as well, so they were most probably done by droids. Vader no doubt saw himself as disfigured by the fight-- I always got the impression that Anakin was slightly vain about his looks-- so he probably destroyed the droids after they did their work.

As for people, I imagine that what they saw of Vader, they wouldn't want to tell other people about for fear he'd find out...

yes and no as I consider the "Anakin" that met Padme at Mustafar a mask of sorts is is the hood he wears during most of ROTS.

I was talking mask as metafor as much as the true thing (for example Vader hides behind the face of Anakin Skywalker when talking to Padme in Mustafar (before Obi-wan shows up and he loses control), the same way he uses the hood of he's robe. During the slauther of the CIS leading council (and it's guards) you can see only short flashes of Vader and after ROTS he wears a literal mask. Only during the Duel we see Vader as his "true" form (or that's my impression).

I'll hazard that he means 'wearing a mask' in a metaphorical sense, I.E. concealing his true feelings and personality.

yes , but that's just more concreat version of the metaphorical "mask".
