Decided to leave WoW for Eve, and have yet to regret it. I'm just wondering if any of you still play, and are in a corp that would take an Amarr just about to break 1 mil SP.

Still playing, sort of. Go talk to a guy named Karm at some point. Tell him you're another SD.net guy. Should be able to help you out. Be on the lookout for a corp called Wings of Redemption [W0R]

I've been eyeing EVE a bit, and it looks kinda fun. Is it any good?

I enjoy it, much more than I enjoyed WoW. I find the skill system it uses to be quite different that the XP is GOD thing.

Basically you buy skill packs (though you start with a set of skills you can pick or a premade set) and just let them run. You train even when your not online.

And from what i have seen so far even a 1 month old n00b can be a threat in PvP. If you decide to try it, let me know. They have a buddy system where you can play for a week (I think) for free. I would be happy to set you up.

Lets see...

Playing for about 9 months and showing no signs of quitting yet. Got 11.3 million SP.

For a living, I am a combat pilot of the Firmus Ixion alliance and doing mission/NPC hunting in peace times. I think my corp still recruits (you can always make a post in the recruitment section of our corps forum if your interested).

There is a SD.net chat channel in eve (altough I think its mostly empty lately)

You'll notice EVE has a slow pace and steep learning curve, but once you get past the start, you'll have yourself an immersive game. For myself, I just love to be in an alliance, having our own territory and asskicking fleet. And with the newly enabled dreadnaughts and outposts... oh boy

The best advice I could give is that you should not stare yourself blind on the SP of other players. Yes, you'll never get more SP than other players but SP arent the end of everything (I once saw a guy with 30 to 40M SP but virtually no gunnery skills). Specialisation is the key

I still have a character. Tanteen I think her name was. Though i have not got a subscription at the moment. She has got a cruiser at the moment.

I picked it up a few months ago and haven't stopped loving it. Don't have as much time to play lately, but that's alright since I can just skill train in the background

How is PvP in WoW? I heared it doesnt really matter if you loose or not since you not really risk loosing something.
Thats what I like in Eve anyway. If you loose, you pretty much loose everything. Sometimes stuff you worked hard for to get. Risky combat = more tense/adrenalin = more fun.

Ps. One of the things that kept me playing is you can play it in window mode so you can do other stuff while doing something boring. I've lost count with the times I was reading a forum while my ship was getting blasted to little bits

PvP in WoW, IMHO, is quite boring. I mainly played a Warlock on a PvE server, so it meant PvP was restricted (mostly) to the 2 Battlegrounds. It basically melts down to play defense (offense for a lock cloth wearer was suicide due to not having any escape spells), rogue gank, die, reincarnate, rinse and repeat. It could be a great deal of fun, if your raid group worked well together, but in my experience most were not so good.

There is very little risk. You are rewared Honor for kills, more honor = more rank. The higher the rank, the better the items you can buy from the quartermaster. When I left, they were still forcing PvP to be a huge timesink in that if you didn't keep up with honor you lost rank. Meaning that if you took say a 2 week vacation and were a General, you might not come back as one. Although I hear that they changed this recently.
