Linux Modem Help

Post by Admiral Valdemar »

I've been getting used to Mandriva 2005 LE as of late, but one thing that has been bugging me is the inability of my modem to actually work.

It works under Windows XP, naturally. It has drivers that are installed to make it a "Linmodem" (it's a Smart Link 56k PCI internal card, so you know) yet KPPP still can't find it. I've tried installing wvdial which won't even compile right (error 1 or something that has eluded me so far) and trying a symlink doesn't seem to work. I'm open to suggestions, because I can't think of many other paths to take.

Dammit, wish I saw this before I turned in last night. I'll get a copy of the error in a bit. I'm sure it was something to do with some lack of apps. needed, but I'll have to check.
