As far as .22's go they are pretty damn resistant(What we use for "bullet proof" term)

This definition ought to make bullet proof things rare and valuable, rather than cheap and common.

And what was with that crazy lady? 12 grids around one? Reality is illusory? What did any of that have to with evolution? Why was she even invited on?

I think they were trying to comically show that Biblical Creationism is the only "alternative" to evolution. So they picked an absurd one that is in reality as absurd as creationism. That's just my opinion though.

(taking another brief break from my hiatus)

I'm actually very disappointed in the whole thing. They hyped it up like they would put some real effort into it, but they haven't even touched on any of the real issues or facts that the average person doesn't already know. The Daily Show has always excelled at finding a comical way to bring facts to light which were important but not being widely publicized (the way they skewered Bush's timeline of activities relative to Hurricane Katrina was a good example), but they haven't done jack shit for that here. All they've done is show a bunch of people spouting opinions, and when they assembled a panel, they were careful to get a "pro-evolution" guy who wouldn't offend the fundie masses by contradicting their beliefs or pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. They've got one more day to say something incisive about this, but I am now of the opinion that it won't happen. They're too sympathetic to religious bullshit and they're not going to allow anyone to stand up and say that creationism is utter nonsense. The most they'll do is present somebody who says that God is real, God is powerful, God can affect our world, creationism is OK in science class, but ... politicians shouldn't be forcing their will on science teachers. Somebody go look for Jon Stewart's balls, because they appear to be MIA.

They normally make an effort to air the other side's POV; they've had Rick Asshole Santorum and BullShit O'Reilly on the show for fuck's sake. But in this case, they have paraded a bunch of creationists in front of us, and one half-assed creationist. I haven't seen one person stand up there and say that creationism and ID are complete bullshit; the most they'll do is poke fun at some of the more absurd aspects of YEC, without really laying a finger on ID at all. I'm starting to suspect that Stewart himself is sympathetic to ID.

Agreed, I was thoroughly disappointed in the performance of the "pro evolution" member of the panel. Their were so many things I wish he had said, that he SHOULD have said in responce to that "Discovery Institute" fucktard but he barely scratched the surface.

I've only seen two of them thus far (I can't get Comedy Central in my room for some irritating reason), but it seems to be burning ID and YEC well enough (not as extreme as that senator, though, jesus they raped his face into oblivion). The first day was a little subtler than perhaps some would've liked, but they made it clear enough that they "thought" that the Scopes museum/town were all actors (i.e., "no one could really be that dense, right?").

On the second day Stewart said something along the lines of "Intelligent design, however, doesn't state the existence of the Christian God... just someone with the skillset to create an entire universe."

Hopefully I'll be able to catch the other three re-runs sometime.

Was it me or did it look like they did some editing during the panel of guest discussion. Some parts looked like it was cut short. I bet there was more said then what we heard.

Of course, it was cut. It has to fit in the time-slot. My uneducated guess would be that 7 out of 10 interviews are cut as well. I don't think we missed much though.
The show is after all a comedy show. It is easy to say smart stuff about politics, given that there is so much surrealism going on, that all you need is some common sense. With science and how it is often misrepresented, it is often a lot harder. And it's not like Jon Stewart necessarily has an above average science education. I think a lot of people (myself included) had higher expectations that weren't really realistic given the scope of the show.

i think that first and second part showed quite well Jon Stewart's view. Third part with the panel was the weakest and final part was rather for fun than anything else.
